UPDATE: The game is set to restart at 6:55 p.m. ET, with the gates currently open for fans to re-enter the stadium.

Clemson’s game against Georgia Tech was delayed with just 32 seconds left in the first half due to lightning strikes in the area.

Both teams went to their respective locker rooms and fans were encouraged by the PA system to seek shelter inside Memorial Stadium’s concourse. Per NCAA mandates, the game cannot restart until at least 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike, meaning that play will not resume until 5:36 p.m. ET at the latest.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Kelly Quinlan, Clemson and Georgia Tech’s coaches agreed to treat the weather delay like halftime, meaning that, once the game restarts, the two teams will play out the final :32 of the second quarter. Once that time has expired, the Tigers will kick off to the Yellow Jackets, regardless of which team has possession.

The delay interrupted a Georgia Tech drive on third-and-2 from Clemson’s 17-yard line. The Tigers currently hold a 7-0 lead, despite managing just 127 total yards of offense. Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has completed 11 of his 15 passing attempts for 63 yards, while freshman running back Will Shipley was responsible for the game’s lone touchdown.

The Tigers' defensive unit has played well, holding Georgia Tech to 98 total yards. The Yellow Jackets' current drive -- covering 54 yards in nine plays while draining 2:51 off the clock -- is their only to reach the red zone so far.

Clemson trounced Georgia Tech 73-7 last season, with a 52-7 lead at halftime.
