Is Warzone down? Yes, it is, but this outage was planned in advance as part of Activision's big plans for the game this month. It all ties into the recent Call of Duty: Warzone event, The Last Hours of Verdansk, which has now ended.

The planned period of server downtime has followed the event, as Activision prepares for the new Warzone map release date and the launch of CoD Vanguard Season 1.

The Last Hours of Verdansk event saw the original Warzone map destroyed with bombs, paving the way for the upcoming Pacific Caldera map to take its place.

If you were wondering, Warzone will come back online at 5pm GMT today (8th December). At that time, Vanguard owners will be able to try out the new map, and everyone else will be able to return to Rebirth Island.

And then, at 5pm tomorrow (9th December), the new Warzone map will unlock for everyone for free. That's when the early access period for Vanguard owners ends and everyone else will be able to try the new map.

When is The Last Hours of Verdansk event in CoD Warzone?

The Last Hours of Verdansk event started on Monday 6th December 2021 and it ended on Tuesday 7th December 2021. The event took place within CoD Warzone itself, taking the shape of a playlist in the game.

These two dates were confirmed on Raven Software's public Trello board ahead of time, giving players plenty of notice about Verdansk's demise.

What time did The Last Hours of Verdansk event start in the UK?

The CoD Warzone event named The Last Hours of Verdansk started at 10am PST on 6th December for fans in the USA, just as the developers from Raven Software had promised.

Here in the UK, that means the Warzone event began at 6pm GMT on 6th December. That's when British fans were first able to join in with the Verdansk-ending fun.

What time did The Last Hours of Verdansk event end in the UK?

Another way of asking that question would be, 'When is Verdansk leaving Warzone?' And sadly, if you're only reading this now, you're too late... Verdansk has already gone!

The recent CoD event ended and the Verdansk map was removed from Warzone at 9pm PT on 7th December, just as the Call of Duty blog foretold.

Here in the UK, that means the Verdansk map left Warzone at 5am GMT on the morning of 8th December. You could've pulled an all-nighter the day before, then, if you really wanted to make the most of Verdansk before it was gone.

What happened in The Last Hours of Verdansk event?

We knew a couple of things about The Last Hours of Verdansk event ahead of time: we knew it would involve some bombs, and that it would lead into some CoD Warzone downtime.

Those two things helped get the game ready, in both a technical and storytelling sense, for the imminent arrival of the new Warzone map and the first season of crossover content with the WW2-themed Call Of Duty: Vanguard game.

The new map and the new season of Warzone content are both launching in full on Thursday this week. However, players who paid for Vanguard will get a full day of early access to the new Warzone map, starting at 5pm GMT on 8th October.

The publishers from Activision described The Last Hours of Verdansk in an official Call of Duty blog, saying: "Bombs away – see what happens to Verdansk before Warzone goes dark to prepare for Caldera and Season One."

Players that tried out The Last Days of Verdansk playlist will have witnessed planes and bombs fall from the sky and crashing onto Verdansk, providing a fitting send-off for this much-loved map!
