Colorful Crafts To Make With Broken Crayons - - Little Red Window

Use your old broken crayons to make some amazing, colorful and creative craft projects!

If you have kids, then you definitely have some sort of container full of old broken crayons. I totally remember believing that crayons were no longer “as good” once they broke or once the paper peeled off when I was a kid. There really is nothing better than brand new crayons in the fall anyway.

I also grew up in the era of the “how to make crayons” video on Sesame Street and that only added to my love of brand new crayons. Do you remember that clip? It was my absolute favorite one. The stacks and stacks of perfect new crayons are just mesmerizing. I was in awe of the man who scooops up like a hundred crayons all perfectly lined up at once! And now that I looked it up for you, I’ve watched it several times today, ha!

Anyway if you love new crayons, there’s nothing worse than sad broken crayons. I never managed to get the super fancy crayon box with the built in crayon sharpener and I remember being so bummed out when my crayons got all dull. Even worse if they broke in half and then one half would get lost in the bottom of the box where you couldn’t reach it. Ugh.

So like most kids, I have always loved brand new crayons and avoided broken crayons as much as possible.

These feelings directly contradict my thrifty nature though and so I was looking around for ideas and crafts to make with our big bin of broken crayons and I found some really amazingly creative and colorful ideas that I wanted to share with you guys!

These ideas go far beyond just melting the crayons into new crayons (though there are instructions for that too because it will never not be fun)! If you have any creative ideas for crafting with broken crayons, I’d love to hear them!
