Whoever made the decision is probably enjoying a nice vacation courtesy of Colt... #3 · Jul 21, 2012 Easy. Don't bad mouth the Marine Corps! Marine Recon operators did the Evaluation. Those are the best of the best so please choose your words carefully. Lots of Marines on this forum. #4 · Jul 21, 2012 Did you see the evaluation reports to know who really did the evaluation and who actually made the decision? Are you sure the guys on the ground really chose this model or did perhaps a higher level decision maker take things into consideration and then make a different choice? Personally I'd like to see the actual evaluation notes, because I can't believe anyone who bets their life on a firearm would seriously choose the Colt over the MCOP- at least not in the consumer Rail Gun configuration with the plastic mainspring housing, poor fit, etc. Of course it is entirely possible Colt submitted a gun that was called the Rail Gun for convenience while actually being something entirely different/better than currently available to the general public. #5 · Jul 21, 2012 MARSOC leathernecks kicking ass with 1911's is nothing new. Debate it on the net all day long. Bottom line - they are putting foot to ass period. Good for the Corps! #6 · Jul 21, 2012 (Edited) sI guess what we have here is a hater or troll! I am in the Corps and have friends around the Corps. I have been in for 26 years. Marine Force recon operators were heavily involved in the evaluation and choice. I hate to break it to you but the Colt won. The springfield is a fine pistol but it did not do as well as the Colt in the evaluation and therefore was not chosen. It's as simple as that. You can believe what you want but Many a GI have put their lives on the line with a Colt 1911 and some have even been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor wielding a Colt 1911. You really should hush up now, you are really running close to bad mouthing the Corps. with some of the Stuff you are writing it's fairly obvious you have never been in the military. You are gonna piss off some vets and you are pissing me off now. You sound very ungrateful for what we do or have done. I will not say another word. #7 · Jul 21, 2012 I sincerely doubt the gun submitted closely resembles the stock rail guns coming out of the factory. If you do the math with the total possible contract value and # of guns it comes out to better than $1800 per gun if I am not mistaken. If the USMC is paying that for a stock rail gun somebody needs to follow that money trail and figure out who got bribed. #8 · Jul 21, 2012 (Edited) Somebody got bribed???? come on now. Is it so bad that a Colt got the nod? I think its so cool that after 100 yrs the Corps has come full circle and went back to the original. We should all be proud of Colt for being the original and an American company getting the contract. really surprised I'm not hearing good replies. I'm proud of colt as I would have been happy if Springfield got the nod. Very Sad to see trolling going on. #9 · Jul 21, 2012
