Parks and Recreation
When it comes to parks, we can boast with the best of them! Swanton Township is home to the Oak Openings Preserve, the largest Metropark in Lucas County and an area unique in many ways; as well as a portion of the Maumee State Forest. The "Rails to Trails" is found in the South portion of the township, and Valleywood Golf Club (a local favorite) is in the Northern section. Hiking, biking, horse-back riding, snowmobiling, roller blading, cross-country skiing, picnicking, and golf are but a few of the recreational opportunities available in Swanton Township. Living in Swanton Township gives residents the best of two worlds - rural living, with its peaceful serenity, plus quick access to local entertainment, restaurants, museums, and zoos. In addition, our residents can easily hop on the Ohio Turnpike or Interstate Highway System, or fly to exotic destinations through the Toledo Express International Airport. You can get "there" from "here" !

Churches
As with most early settlements in America, one of the first items of business was the building of a place for residents to worship. It was common to build one structure to serve several functions and congregations, and you will find many of these buildings dotting the landscape in NW Ohio. Swanton Township has two churches within its boundaries, and many others close by. Many other churches, synagogues, and mosques are located in and around Toledo, and space limitations preclude listing all of them here.
Shopping Information
Grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and other retail shops are close by in the villages of Swanton, Whitehouse, Waterville and Holland. In addition, Maumee and Toledo are within a 25-mile radius to the East, as is Wauseon to the West.
