■1910~1920

| 1917 | - On October 13, the Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., was established as a joint venture between Yokohama Electric Cable Manufacturing Company (predecessor of today’s Furukawa Electric Co.) and the United States’ BFGoodrich Company. The photo shows Suekichi Nakagawa, a director at Yokohama Electric Cable who was instrumental in Yokohama Rubber’s establishment and later became the company’s second president.

| 1920 | - Construction of the company’s first production facility, the Hiranuma Plant, was completed in Hiranuma-cho, Yokohama. The plant began producing belts, tires and other products using refining processes and belt, hose and tire manufacturing equipment from the U.S.
