Our half sticks equal 1/4 cup of butter, or 4 tablespoons. They can be used interchangeably in recipes. You don't have to use measuring cups to measure butter. Use the pre-marked wrappers to measure by tablespoons, 1/4 cup and 1/3 cup.

If you have a collection of leftover butter pieces and need a cup amount for a recipe you can use the "displacement method." Fill a liquid measuring cup with 1 cup cold water. Place cold butter (this won't work with soft butter) into measuring cup until water level reaches the amount you need for the recipe. i.e. if recipe calls for 1/3 cup butter, put butter pieces in until water level rises to 1 1/3 cups. Drain water and use that butter for the recipe.
