Create a Hanging Indent in Google Slides

This tutorial will show you how to create a hanging indent in Google Slides. If you are looking for how to create a hanging indent in Google Docs, click here.

The easiest way to create a hanging indent in Google Slides is to create it in Google Docs first (tutorial here). After it is created in Google Docs, simply copy and paste it into the Slide. See the GIF below:

If it is not properly formatting for you, there is a rather interesting and simple work around that will get the job done using the “tab” key.

In most cases, simply copying over the properly formatted text from a Google Doc will result in it remaining properly formatted in the Google Slide.

If it doesn't, you can follow the steps below.

  1. Create the properly formatted reference in Google Docs or Word (or simply type it out in Slides).
  2. Copy the block to where you'd like it in Google Sheets
  3. Make sure the text is left aligned
  4. Click in front of the text where you want the hanging indent to occur and press “Enter” on the keyboard. You will notice a shift in the text.
  5. Finally, press “tab” on the keyboard and it will create the indent.
