The song is about the final judgement after death. The singer never found Christ (the whole second verse is about His sacrifice on the cross) and is now being sentenced to eternity in hell (the lines about "demons cluttering around" and "my skin begins to burn". He cries out to God, only to be told he created this by rejecting Jesus. The line about "Should've been dead on a Sunday morning" references the Resurrection, where Christ was dead and buried, but triumphed and rose. The singer is banging his own head for not accepting it until it was too late...

I believe this song is about a man in hell ..substance abuse trapped in that cell...on his knees asking God for help not expecting forgiveness..so he held his head up high..ready to own up to his sin...hearing the thunder in the distance seeing a vision of a cross feeling the pain that was given on a sad day of loss..of course that's a given ...the day our savior was crucified...a lion roars in the darkness only he holds the key...Jesus...a light to free me from my burden and grant me life eternally...should of been dead on a Sunday morning banging my head no time for morning ain't got no time..been on this path to long got to get off no time left only 2 ways for this to go...we the meek are all in one ..addiction can affect anyone...meek means obedient, humble,timid,compliant..we are all one in the same even if your timid compliant...meek.. you can be caught in the snares of drug addiction alcohol whatever it is so easily can be anyone..and this is a man deeply religious...deeply stuck in his own hell.. demons cluttering around that exactly what your wrestling with when Gabriel stands and confirms I've created my own prison you do create that prison and you hold that hate of this struggle and you hold your head up high because it is what it is and when the time comes there is but one judge...alot of folks do judge they don't matter that prison you created that's holding you back only you can tear down those walls and until your ready hold your head up high you pay your dues along the way when your ready that sin is between only you and God. There's no wrong way to interpret it...but some of the answers were just wrong. Creed is the best. God takes and he gives awesome song!

My favorite song by Creed always will be. I've created my own prison so many times that I despise myself. I know God will forgive us if we are just and sincere In confessing our sins and ask for forgiveness. God doesn't want us to give up.We have to fight each an everyday that God gives us because none of us know if tomorrow is promised.

Most can relate of something they've done in the past that seems unforgivable and they lose hope for forgiveness. So they convict themselves instead of having faith that Jesus can and will forgive them. What the song means to me is even though you know there's power in the blood. You still refuse Christ to take your mental burdens that bind you down and take care of it your way. The problem is you can't so now you're bound to your conviction instead of trusting Christ to wipe it out and cleanse your soul so you can be freed and move forward. When we accept Christ the old worldly us is dead and we spiritulally receive the eternal life we all long for. We become the church or the meek. The song is a message for us to receive Jesus Christ before we pass from this world on to the second death. From what I understand if you're saved and live as righteous as you can then when you pass from this world you go straight to the ceremony where we the church merry Jesus Christ and crown our king with the rewards we accumulated while on earth helping others to convert and be apart of the church. The second death is for the ones that don't or refuse to know Jesus Christ. That where the song can trigger the mind and get you back to reality where you know you've done something bad or living numb to Christ. Hope this helps someone understand the song and how precious each and everyone soul is that's still breathing ❤ glory to God!

This song applies to my life situation intensely, but in a different fashion. My name has been drug thru the mud, & dirt thrown at me, not to mention I was the main topic of my recently deceased boyfriends funeral.(By distant grown children,and banned stepchildren that he got stolen from) How low and disrespectful. I loved that man and he loved me even more. Such accusations will test and kill your soul if you let them. May God rest his soul. One of the best men I ever met. Let them find reason and peace within themselves

It is pretty easy to understand if you listen to all the lyrics. It is about hell, and if you are not the best person you can be you will go to hell. During your judgment you can`t appeal the judge (which I believe is God and Jesus Christ)will be telling the house and the jury all the sins you did in your entire life. Then they will decide where you belong whether in heaven or hell. Scott Stapp (the singer) wasn`t so lucky and he got sent to hell. The phrase my own prison in the song means that if you commit a lot of sins you just created your own prison which meansit`s your fault you are going to hell nobody else`s fault. Well that is my interpretation. It is a great song by Creed. If you don`t agree with me you can go ahead and comment yourself.

Honestly, I think he's struggling with his past and as he stands on judgement day, he tries to call out to God, but he doesn't think that God is big enough to cover his sins (He is) and when he refers to Sunday morning, he means that he feels spiritually dead and he regrets not being strong enough to turn to God, hence the Sunday morning reference to church. And so, although he regrets what he's done, in the end his inability to believe in God's saving grace sent him to hell.

This song is about a man who has commited a crime of some sort and stands before a judge to recieve his sentence which he knows will be one of no return. As he stands before the judge he regrets not finding God and wonders if his life would have been different if he had. He then prays to God to only have it confirmed that he has "created his own prison."

This song is very religious it's about looking up to god when you are trying to be saved by the "time of trial" he should've been dead on Sunday and it didn't go through he's in prison for te rest of his life he can't find any remorse but look up to god for a blessing to be freed.
