• Can toughened glass be cut to size?

  Toughened glass, also known as tempered glass, undergoes a special heat treatment process that enhances its strength and durability. This process involves heating the glass to high temperatures and then rapidly cooling it, resulting in increased toughness compared to standard annealed glass. Before this process has taken place, we can cut the glass to size, however, once toughened, altering its shape or size becomes a challenge.

• Can toughened glass be cut after the tempering process?

  No, toughened glass cannot be cut or resized once it has undergone the tempering process. Attempting to cut tempered glass after tempering will result in it shattering into small, granular pieces. The very nature of the tempering process—creating internal stresses that give the glass its strength—also causes it to break into small, safer pieces when compromised.

• What should I do if I need to resize toughened glass?

  If there's a need to alter the size or shape of toughened glass, it's recommended to order a new piece cut to the required dimensions. Attempting to cut or modify toughened glass post-tempering can be hazardous and result in the glass shattering unpredictably.
