Introduction
DaBaby is an American professional rapper, songwriter, and singer with an estimated net worth of $5 Million.
Music Career
Before making it big, DaBaby released his debut tape, Nonfiction, in 2015, under the name Baby Jesus. He followed this up with additional mixtapes, including God’s Work, Baby Talk, Billion Dollar Baby, and Back on My Baby Jesus Shi*t.
While performing at clubs in North Carolina, he was spotted by Arnold Taylor and signed to the South Coast Music Group label. This chance meeting effectively kickstarted DaBaby’s larger career, with his Blank Tape mixtape becoming a breakout hit in 2018.
The Big Time
Following the release of Blank Tape, DaBaby was signed to Interscope Records in 2019. His debut studio album, Baby on Baby, was released as a joint venture between Interscope and South Coast Music Group. Featuring guest appearances from Rich the Kid and Offset, Baby on Baby debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 100.
Following this success, DaBaby ended up featured on many hit songs, including Megan Thee Stallion’s “Cash Shit.” The same year, he announced and released his second studio album, Kirk, titled after his last name. This album debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200, and his single “Into” reached number 13 on the Hot 100.
At the same time, he also appeared in remixes of other chart-topping songs, such as Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” and Lil Nas X’s “Panini.” By the end of the year, he had released or was featured on 22 songs on the Hot 100, the most for any artist in 2019.
Blame It On Baby
After receiving two Grammy nominations, DaBaby released his third album, Blame It On Baby, in 2020. It quickly became his second number-one album, debuting at the top of the Hot 100 and selling 124,000 units. In addition, DaBaby continued to appear on tracks by other artists, including Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin.”
Later the same year, he released his debut EP, My Brother’s Keeper (Long Live G), as a tribute to his late brother Glenn. His single “Masterpiece” followed this EP, which references his relationship with DaniLeigh and his past legal troubles.
In July 2021, he put out “Ball If I Want To” and “Red Light Green Light,” along with “Giving What It’s Supposed To Give,” the following month. Unfortunately, the same month, he found himself in hot water due to homophobic remarks and received a lot of backlash. Due to his remarks, his appearance at Lollapalooza was canceled, with G Herbo replacing him.
After being removed from additional festivals and even radio stations, he took a backseat for a while before releasing Better than You in 2022. This was followed by his fourth studio album, Baby on Baby 2, which debuted on the Hot 100 at number 34.
Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment
In 2017, DaBaby founded his own record label, Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment, in addition to creating his own music. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he has five signed artists, including Stunna 4 Vegas, with whom he released “No Dribble” in 2020. While his label isn’t huge, given his talent, we expect it to grow so long as he can distance himself from controversy.
Real Estate
In November 2019, DaBaby paid $2.3 million for an 11,241-square-foot, five-bedroom home in Troutman, North Carolina. He reportedly still lives there today and pays roughly $26,000 in annual property taxes.
