Dan Scott

Dan Scott (Paul Johansson): Dan Scott is portrayed as the villain in Tree Hill. Dan is the ex-husband of Deb Lee and the father of Nathan and Lucas Scott. Dan was always tearing down Nathan and Lucas, telling them they would never be better than he was at basketball and trying to undermine their confidence. Originally wanting nothing to do with Lucas, he begins to want a part in Lucas’s life after Nathan gets emancipated and marries Haley. Deb attempted to murder Dan in the season 2 finale by burning down his dealership with him inside. Dan, thinking it was Keith shoots Keith and lets Jimmy Edwards a troubled student at Tree Hill High take the blame as Jimmy committed suicide that day of the school shooting. Lucas gradually accepts Dan as his Dad until he finds out what he did. Dan, realizing Lucas will never forgive him turns himself into the police. He then spends almost 5 years in prison.

After prison Dan and Jamie (Haley and Nathan’s son) become close friends. Dan is then kidnapped by Carrie, Jamie’s ex Nanny, who planned to kidnap Jamie for the second time and set Dan up for it. Dan is later rescued by Haley (who took Jamie to see his grandfather after they got a worried phone call saying he was going to die, not knowing it was Carrie). After psycho nanny Carrie chases Haley and Jamie through cornfield Dan shoots her and kills her.

When Jamie found out that Dan murdered Keith he stops talking to him, so Dan leaves Tree Hill to die as he does not think he will be able to find a new heart since one became available while he was being held hostage. In the year time gap between season 6 and 7 Dan married Rachel Gatina who takes him to Mexico and illegally buys a heart. After realizing the type of person Rachel is when she wants to take their new TV show to the corridor where he murdered Keith, he gives all his money to charity and divorces her. He then leaves Tree Hill once again.
