Definition of BuzzergateWhat is "Buzzergate"? What is the definition of the term "Buzzergate"? "Buzzergate" is a continuation of the cheating allegations that have ensnared the Houston Astros in scandal. The initial allegations against the Astros, which they were punished for, involved some members of the organization monitoring video and relaying signs to a team employee, who would slam a garbage can in centerfield in order to tip batters off as to what type of pitch they could expect. Three managers - Alex Cora, AJ Hinch and Carlos Beltran - have been fired or have resigned as a result of the scandal. "Buzzergate" goes deeper. After Carlos Beltran was let go by the New York Mets on Thursday, January 16th (before managing even one game with the club), a Twitter account claiming to be Beltran's niece claimed that several members of the Houston Astros (including Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman) wore electronic buzzers on their right shoulders. The allegation? A "hallway video guy" would buzz the devices, which would tip the players off to what type of pitch to expect next. This theory has been fuelled by the fact that there is video showing Altuve trotting home after hitting a home run, in which he seems to tell his teammates not to tear his jersey off. He then grabs his jersey as he runs into his throng of teammates.

In addition, some Internet sleuths have unearthed photos and video that they claim might be evidence of Astros' players wearing devices. Trevor Bauer, who pitches for the Cincinnati Reds, had this to say via his Twitter account:

This story is developing. Please note that we are simply reporting the allegations that are making the rounds online, and can neither validate nor disprove the allegations.. Jose Altuve has come out with a denial of the allegations, while Major League Baseball says that there is no evidence to back the rumors. Update:
