Destiny 2 Enhancement Prisms Guide (& How To Get Them)

Enhancement Prisms are one of the many crafting materials used in Destiny 2, primarily used for upgrading armor from Tier 7 to Tier 8 and Tier 9. Additionally, Enhancement Prisms are used to craft some of the weapons within the Exotic Archive, and are one of the materials that can be used to acquire Ascendant Shards. While they aren't particularly difficult to acquire, Enhancement Prisms are the gatekeepers that separate mid-tier armor from endgame armor.

Unlike Ascendant Shards, there are a large number of easy ways to acquire Enhancement Prisms. Most of these methods can be repeated for more Enhancement Prisms, with the exception of one-time rewards like those earned from the Season Pass. Additionally, Destiny 2 Season of the Lost had some major updates that made acquiring Enhancement Prisms easier than ever before.

Here are all the ways Enhancement Prisms can be earned in Destiny 2:

  • Banshee-44 and Ada-1
  • Greater Core Harvest Ghost Mods
  • Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard Strikes, and Trials of Osiris Ranks
  • Nightfalls that are at least Hero difficulty
  • Season Pass
  • Empire Hunts that are at least Hero difficulty
  • Spider
  • Dismantling Armor (Tier 9 and above)

How to Get Enhancement Prisms in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Ada-1

In the Destiny 2 Tower, Banshee-44 and Ada-1 sell Enhancement Prisms every day for 10,000 Glimmer, 10 Enhancement Cores, and a random world material. They each have two options for Enhancement Prisms, but the only difference between the options is what world material is being used. For example, one day it could be Spinmetal Leaves and Baryon Bough, and the next it could be Helium Fragments and Dusklight Shards. These are materials found through the different locations in the system.

On the Tangled Shore, Spider sells Enhancement Prisms for 400 Legendary Shards every day. While only five can be purchased per day, they can be purchased five separate times on each character. This method is the least efficient method, as it takes longer to acquire 400 Legendary Shards than it does to get an Enhancement Prism from any other method, aside from the Season Pass. The paid version of the Destiny 2 Season Pass awards three Enhancement Prisms at level 60 and again at level 70. Additionally, like the season pass, Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard Strikes, and Trials of Osiris all reward Enhancement Prisms for increasing their ranks. More Enhancement Prisms can be earned every time their ranks are reset.

Dismantling Armor Tier 9 and above is another not-so-effective method for earning Enhancement Prisms. The only reason anyone should dismantle Tier 9 and above armor is because they received the same armor with better stats. The updated Transmog system in Destiny 2 allows Guardians to customize the looks of their armor with the appearance of another, so if it is a specific look that anyone is after, spend Synthweave Bolts to change the appearance of Legendary Armor.

Guardians wielding Ghost in Destiny 2

Hero-level Nightfalls and above are going to be the best method for earning Enhancement Prisms. Additionally, the more difficult the Nightfall, the more likely Enhancement Prisms will be awarded. Double rewards weeks will increase the number of Enhancement Prisms players can earn from this activity as well. Equipping a Vanguard Greator Core Harvest Ghost mod will increase the chances of another Enhancement Prism be awarded for bosses defeated in Destiny 2's Vanguard Strikes and Nightfalls - regardless of the difficulty.

The Greater Core Harvest Ghost Mod also has a version that applies to Gambit and Crucible. Defeating invaders in Gambit has a chance to award an Enhancement Prism, but not defeating enemies as an invader. In Crucible, precision final blows have a chance to award Enhancement Prisms. There is no definite method to measure how many headshots it will take or invaders defeated to earn Enhancement Prisms, but it shouldn't take more than a match or two provided these requirements are repeatedly met.

Lastly, completing Empire Hunts that are on Hero or a higher difficulty are the final method for earning Enhancement Prisms. This is an activity that can only be completed after the Beyond Light story is completed. Empire Hunts are similar to Nightfalls, but they specifically focus on defeating opponents who rise up after defeating the main villain of the Beyond Light story.
