Destiny 2: How To Get Mod Components (2021) - Game Rant

Mod Components are an important resource in Destiny 2 that players can use to buy mods from either the Tower Gunsmith, Banshee-44, or Ada-1, the Armor Synthesis vendor. These components can be earned randomly but can also be reliably obtained through certain Gunsmith bounties.
Mod Components have been in Destiny 2 since the beginning but are quite redundant for players that have every mod available for purchase anyway. With Season of the Splicer, Ada-1 was reintroduced as a Tower vendor and now sells Armor Mods and hosts the controversial armor transmogrification system.

How to Get Mod Components
Completing Gunsmith bounties, which can be bought from Banshee in the Tower, is currently the only way to get Mod Components in Destiny 2. Turning in one of the normal daily bounties rewards players with two Mod Components, but turning in one of the daily repeatable bounties only awards one component.
Banshee’s daily bounties are usually quite easy and only require players to get kill using a specific type of weapon or elemental damage type. If Destiny 2 players grab and complete all four of the daily Gunsmith bounties for a given day, they will get eight Mod Components.
Repeatable bounties have similar objectives to the daily bounties but can also require players to get the kills with a certain weapon type without dying. They also cost 3,000 glimmer each and only reward a single Mod Component, so players should only get the repeatable bounties if they desperately need more Mod Components.
Where to Spend Mod Components
Banshee and Ada have a rotating stock of two mods which cost 10 Mod Components each. Banshee sells Weapon Mods which can only be used in the mod slots of Legendary weapons. These mods will offer passive enhancements to certain weapon stats, including in-air accuracy, aim assist, and readying speed after sprinting, or will improve the effects of certain weapon perks and are definitely worth looking out for.
Meanwhile, Ada now sells two Armor Mods which can be slotted into certain Legendary and Exotic Armor pieces depending on the elemental energy type of the armor piece or mod, or the energy cost of the mod. Combat Style Mods such as Charged With Light Mods and Warmind Cell Mods are extremely useful for crafting Class builds that maximize the effectiveness of a Subclass’s abilities and a player’s weapon loadout. Players should regularly check Ada’s stock as there are lots of useful Armor Mods that may not be sold again for months at a time.
More Weapon and Armor Mods can be unlocked through the seasonal artifact, although these mods are only available to use for the current season. In Season of the Splicer, the Breach and Clear Mod for Grenade Launchers is proving to be massively useful against bosses.
