While Expansions get most of the attention, Seasons keep Destiny 2 alive throughout the year. Yet Seasons have changed a lot. For years, 3-month Seasons were the norm. Episodes replaced Seasons last year. And now Seasons are back on the menu, except they’re now 6 months long. 

Destiny 2 Seasons/Episodes in order

A total of 24 Seasons and 3 episodes have been released so far. This list covers all 27 seasons/episodes in detail, including their start and end dates, Power level caps, and endgame content.

* For clarity, Bungie’s 30th Anniversary pack was not technically a season. That said, it was more expensive than a Season and acted as a Season following the massive delay of the Witch Queen DLC.

New Destiny 2 Season: Reclamation

Season: Reclamation, released alongside The Edge of Fate DLC, is the first 6-month season in this new Destiny 2 era. It is too early to tell how a 6-month Season compares to previous Seasons or Episodes, but expectations are high and Bungie can’t afford another year of slow updates…

Next Destiny 2 Season: Lawless

What to Expect from a Season

This is everything you can expect from a Season in Destiny 2:

  • New story missions
  • A new seasonal activity
  • New weapons (10+ per season)
  • New armor sets
  • A new (reprised) raid or dungeon
  • New Portal activities

What not to expect from an Episode

Seasons might be a great value, but you can’t be surprised if some things are only released as part of the more expensive Yearly Destiny 2 Expansions. These are the pieces of content that are generally reserved for yearly Expansions:

  • A new story campaign
  • A new activity (like Nightmare Hunts or Empire Hunts)
  • A brand-new raid
  • A new destination
  • A new element or subclass (like Stasis or Strand)

While Seasons all cost the same, $10, the same can’t be said about their quality levels. Some were real bangers, while others left a lot to be desired. That said, the quality of Seasons improved over time. We shall see if the new Seasons format delivers more value…
