Complete Elder Rifts Purchase From Fading Embers Trader

Complete Elder Rifts

All Runes except for the Fa Rune are gated behind completing Elder Rifts. Players will need to complete multiple instances of this PvE activity to gather sufficient materials to craft Legendary Gems.

After defeating the Rift Guardian, the Reward Chest at the end of Elder Rifts have a chance of dropping different types of Runes.

Use Crests to Guarantee Runes

Players can guarantee Rune drops in Elder Rifts by taking advantage of Crests and Legendary Crests.

Using Regular Crests will always make Runes drop at the end of Elder Rifts, while Legendary Crests guarantee both Rune and Legendary Gem drops.

Regular Crests can be obtained from different sources in-game, while Legendary Crests need to be purchased from Diablo Immortal's in-game Store.

How to Get Crests

Purchase From Fading Embers Trader

An additional way to obtain Runes is by purchasing and trading them at the Fading Embers and Runes Trader NPC.

At this NPC, you can use Fading Embers collected from Elder Rifts to purchase Fa Runes, or exchange lower-rarity runes for Ati Runes.

How to Use Runes

Used to Craft Legendary Gems

Currently, the only use for Runes is for crafting Legendary Gems. In Diablo Immortal, these items are vital for character progression by providing unique effects and increasing Combat Rating, making Runes very valuable resources by extension.

To craft Legendary Gems using Runes, head over to any of the in-game Jewelers and select the Craft tab to view a list of all craftable Legendary Gems.
