No one wants to take that risk when not ready for a child. Humans device various methods to prevent pregnancy. The earlier methods was withdrawal which failed so many times. Scientist developed various contraceptive methods. They were all designed to prevent pregnancy before sex. However, there was nothing that can be done if it fails. Then comes postinor to the rescue. Postinor is an oral contraceptive for females. It is taken immediately after unprotected sexual acts. It prevents the sperm from getting to the egg. It is highly effective with less than 1 percent failure rate. This is when it is used according to prescription. Besides, it is safer with less side effects. Types Of Postinor

Postinor contains a progesterone only steroid called levonorgestrel. It was first marketed by Gedeon Richter under the name postinor. Ever since then, various brands have been produced with different strengths. The naming is based on the number of tablets on each sachet. The strength is not actually put into consideration.

Postinor 10

Containing 10 tablets of levonorgestrel 0.75mg, this was easily accepted in the early days. The prescription was a tablet taken within an hour of unprotected sexual act. However, there was a backlash from the medical community because of the misuse. This lead to the removal of the 10 pill pack and change its packaging instructions. Postinor 4

The initial backlash from the medical community led to the production of postinor 4. Containing four tablets of 0.75mg levonorgestrel it became the standard for some time. The instructions was still a tablet within one hour of unprotected sexual act which can be used up to four times in a month.

Postinor 2

This is the most popular among the others now. It contains the same active ingredient as postinor 10 and 4, but this time only two pills in a sachet. The first tablet is to be taken within three days or 72 hours of unprotected sex and the second dose in 12 hours time. Read more about postinor 2.

Postinor 1

Postinor 1

Postinor 1 is the last in the series. It contains the same active ingredients as the others but just one tablet. The major difference is the strength. It contains 1.5mg levonorgestrel. The single tablet is taken within 3 days of unprotected sex. This is an extended release drug that is same with postinor 2. Read more about postinor 1. Postinor Difference

From this, it is clear that all the postinor is the same. There is no difference in terms of side effects and effectiveness. The only thing is the dose. For postinor 10 and 4, a single tablet within an hour is effective. After an hour, it should be dose like postinor 2 which is two tablets within 12 hours interval. Taking both at the same time can still work but I am not very sure about that. So many people take the two tablets at once and never come back with pregnancy.   Postinor 10 contain 10 tablet of 0.75mg which is the same strength in postinor 4 and 2. The dosage is 0.75mg less than 72 hours after unprotected sex and another 0.75mg 12 hours later. Some poeple take two tablet at once and it works fine but that is not the recommended dose. If it fails, you have yourself to blame. If you take the two tablet from postinor 10, you are left with 8 more tablet of 0.75mg.Fake postinor may not have NAFDAC registration number. And the packaging may not look like the original.   Postinor have nothing to do wit the womb. It is the female hormone you will be messing around with. An abuse will lead to reduce production of hormones responsible for the stimulation of ovulation. And that can lead to infertility.A lot of journals recommend maximum of a dose a month. Few others clock it at two dose max. Going above that may spell doom in the future. Not to mention irregular period

  If I get your right, you took two tablet then another two tablet. If it is the postinor 20 I know that have 0.75mg levonogrestrel, then you have overdose on it. It should be taken one tablet immediately after sex and then another tablet 12 hours later.However, with the way I think you took it, it will prevent pregnancy

  The drug is an emergency contraceptive and not for plan sex. It will prevent pregnancy within maximum of 72 hours after sex. But there is no guarantee it will prevent future pregnancy. Use other available preventive measure if you want to have sex again

  It takes two hours for postinor two to reach peak plasma concentration in the body which is 18mg/ml. The half life is 26 hours. That means that the drug will only start in the body within 26 hours after which it effectiveness will start to decrease after every 26 hours. It does not stay long in the body

  She overdose on postinor. Now here are things that might happen to her. She may experience heavey bleeding in her next period, delay period, irregular period or mis-period. It may take a month or more. For her cycle to balance. As for your second question, postinor is effective within 72 hours delaying ovulation or preventing implantation. So the answer is yes

  Semen from a healthy man contains millions of living fertile sperm. Pre cum contains thousands of sperm. It takes just one sperm to fertilise an egg. So you need prevention if you are not yet ready to be a mum. And just one tablet of postinor 2 will not solve the problem. The dose is two tablet

  There is no scientific documents that suggest that a dose of postinor work before sex as in this your case. It works after sex. But looking at it from my own point of view, it should be able to prevent pregnancy of it was within that same day. Mind.you, this is a personal opinion and not a research base.Some experts suggest not more than two doses in a month while.others peg it at one dose in a month. The more postinor two you take in a month, the more it disrupt your fertility hormones which alter your period. If you decide to take another dose, bear this in mind.Condom could have save you this stress

Then check the NAFDAC number of it is correct with the official number in NAFDAC website.Look at the scratch card on the pack, scratch it and text the number you will.see to the number in the pack. If it is genuine, you will receive a text shortly. Lastly, look at the pack for incorrect spellings and other dent.

  Postinor work after ovulation has occur by preventing implantation of the fertilised egg or ovum. As for your second question, the answer is yes. What if your ovulation day shifter forward by 24 hours? Get the postinor as soon as possible

  Chances of you getting pregnant are low. But it depends on the stage you are in and your hormone level which I don't have the details.   If you had unprotected sex again on the 15 without postinor 2, I can't guarantee. But if you took postinor 2 after the unprotected sex on the 15, you are safe if you are only worried about pregnancy. However, I can't guarantee the safety of your system as it can disrupt your hormones

  The right dose of postinor is 2 tablet and not one. That alone has render the intervention ineffective. Postinor work by preventing pregnancy after sex and not the other way round. So if you took it before sex, I can't guarantee you that it is going to work

  This is a very dicey situation many married people see themselves. A breastfeeding mum will not ovulate. This is because her prolactin levels is high. However, the prolactin levels can drop any moment. When such a thing happens, she can ovulate.Having unprotected sex on her ovulation day can result in another pregnancy she is not prepared for. And she may not know she I ovulating due to the fact that ovulation comes before period.She can use postinor immediately after an unprotected sex. But she should not use more than a dose in a month.
