- mMommaporter Posted 09-27-16If you like it that way I would say do it but I could see people gettin confused ! I like George! I think it sounds good with Sophia as well!
- bBabyTodd2016 Last edited 09-27-16Jorge is 100% not George. It is pronounced Hor-hey. I would not name him that unless you want him called that. I have to admit I don't quite understand the need for the sibling names to look a certainbway written next to eachother... but perhaps if that is important to you and you don't like it then George is not the right choice. Maybe a better middle name?See all replies (1)
- yyaynumber3 Posted 09-27-16I agree that sibling names don't need to sound good together. I didn't look for a spouse based on whether our names fit and they are used together way more than sibling names. I'd stick with George not Jorge. Advertisement | page continues below

- bBabyTodd2016 Posted 09-27-16lululala88 said:So in ENGLISH and English speaking countries.... Jorge is pronounced h…Well it is a spanish name. And that is how people know it, well most people. I would never see Jorge and think that was pronounced George. It is like Jalapeno. That is a spanish word that yes we use in english but we still pronounce true to the spanish way. Spell it Jorge, of course! But expect some people to call him Hor-hey when they see it written down. If you don't care then cool. If you care then probably not a great idea.
take3mom Posted 09-27-16I'd say either spell it George and deal with it not looking like you wanted. Or use it as a middle name so that it's rarely written next to Sophia and pick one that looks "better" written. (I'm not sure what you're not liking about the way George is written so I'm not really sure what to suggest as alternates.) There really aren't a lot of alternate ways to spell George without changing the pronunciation quite a lot. In French it would be Georges. (pronounced Zhorzh.) Once you start playing with spellings you definitely are going to have people assume that it's pronounced by the rules usually associated with those spellings.- mMochasunbb2016 Posted 09-27-16Yes Jorge is the spanish version of George actually. My dad is called Jorge and named my brother Georges for a more North American version, as other PP said however with the spelling "Jorge" his name will most definitely be prounounced by certain people Hor-Hey.
- kK19RTA Posted 09-25-19George is definitely best way to spell it, my son is called and spelt George and my daughter is also called and spelt Sofia!
Babymama_84 Posted 09-27-19If u like it that way spell it that way but it is pronounced horhay. Sofia with an F is actually the Spanish way to spell Sofia as well. I think Sofia and George look cute spelt out tho
