Printing methods

On the way from the uploaded file on our glass configurator, to the finished printed unique piece, a Glassmania product is accompanied by a lot of handcraft and attention to detail.

About 20 employees in our production facility in Bioley-Orjulaz, Switzerland, ensure that your glass products are personalised according to your wishes.

Customers can choose between two different printing methods, screen printing and digital printing, so that your glass product will meet your needs. All Glassmania products go through a strict quality control before they are sent to you. If there is a reason for a mistake, our friendly and multilingual customer service in German, French, English and Italian will be happy to help you.

Our printing methods

At Glassmania, glass products can be personalised using screen printing or digital printing.

The Screen Printing.

In order to print a drinking glass or glass packaging using screen printing, we need a vector graphic as a template, which consists of no more than 6 colours. In the screen printing process, the ceramic ink is printed onto the drinking glass/carafe using a rubber squeegee through a screen. The design is prepared by our graphics service and then placed on a screen by machine.

The sieve must now be prepared so that all parts that are not to be printed are cut out. The screen is then placed in the printing machine. To make the design dishwasher resistant and glossy, the printed colours are baked into the glass for 2 hours at temperatures between 550 and 620 degrees. This process ensures that the design on the glass has a very good resistance in the dishwasher.

This printing process is particularly suitable for glasses that are washed several times a day. This is especially suitable for restaurants or bars. Glassmania offers the silk-screen printing process from a minimum order of 24 pieces for one colour and 120 pieces for multicolour printing.

Digital Printing.

To print a drinking glass or glass packaging using digital printing, you can use JPG file format or vector graphics files. The only requirement is that the image has a resolution of at least 1000 pixels. The digital printing process works in the same way as your printer that you know from home. The file is sent to the printing machine, the machine is adjusted to the glass size and you are ready to go. Each graphic that is printed with the digital printing process is printed with a transparent layer at the end of the process for the strength of the design.

Durability of digital printing

The digital print is dishwasher safe. However, to ensure that the digital print on your drinking glass or glass packaging lasts as long as possible, you should read here how to care for your glasses.

Special effects: The relief printing

Printing on glass is already very special, but a relief print is an exclusive finish that increases the attention level of the product many times over. In our glass configurator you can choose the design which will be printed as relief. Relief printing allows you to elevate your design from the glass product and therefore create a haptic experience. With a transparent print it also looks as if the print belongs to the bottle shape.
