DIY colored sugar is a simple and fun way to add festive sparkle to your cookies. If you have sugar and some food coloring, you’re all set!

One of my favorite things to do with my kids during holiday baking season is to make these colored sugars!

It’s super easy and fun way to decorate sugar cookies. Not to mention how inexpensive it is!!

Ingredients:

All you need is granulated sugar and food coloring.

I prefer gel food coloring as it doesn’t add too much moisture to the sugar and adds nice and bright color!

How to make colored sugar:

This’s really simple and straightforward process! No special tools or ingredients required!

  1. Simply drop a little bit of gel food coloring into granulated sugar and blend the coloring into the sugar using a spoon.
  2. Let the sugar air dry for 30-60 minutes.

That’s it! I told you it’s a no-fuss, quick and easy process!

Storing Tips:

Transfer the leftover colored sugars in sandwich bags. Squeeze all the air out and store in a cool and dry area.
