When the budget is tight it's hard to justify buying expensive pieces of furniture to freshen up the home.
But chances are it's possible to make a similar version ourselves for a fraction of the cost.
That's what home stylist Tiffany did and she shared her gorgeous DIY coffee and side tables on her Instagram page @home.style.by.tiff.

"When we ordered our new lounge I really wanted a new coffee and side table too, but the ones I was looking at cost [more than] $500 and that just wasn't in our budget," she posted on Instagram alongside a video of the DIY.
"So I thought to myself 'Surely I could make both for less than a quarter of that price'."
For the table bases Tiffany purchased the Finn side table for $19 and the ribbed side table for $42 from Kmart.
She also got grout, adhesive, stone decking tiles and a 600mm round timber panel for the project.
The round timber panel was used on the ribbed side table only to create the table top and was attached using a drill and nails.
All up the supplies cost $117.78, which is more than $400 less than the tables she wanted.

To create the stone effect on the tables Tiffany removed the stones from the decking tiles and then glued them on the table using a heavy duty adhesive.
Once the stones were attached, Tiffany applied grout and and followed the standard grout process by wiping off the excess.
