I don't watch hentai; but I do play hentai games, cuz most of them have good stories. I'm a grown woman, not afraid of seeing adult things, but the timing of the sex scenes and the actual storyline have to be good; or I am not interested. Though some women might actually like non-sensical hentai anime/games too who knows. And yes, some women do watch hentai for the same reasons men do; we have urges too lol. In the visual novels (hentai games) Most are 40-60 hours long with maybe 2 hours of sex scenes. So yes they do have good stories. And the sex is tasteful. In fact, books in America aimed at women are more explicit and raunchy and have more ill timed sex scenes than a lot of visual novel eroge and H games. lol (Harlequin Paperback Romance novels etc). Compared to that visual novels are way better stories. Some of my favorite adult games: Tsukihime, Little Sister Kana, Yume Miru Kisuru, Fruits of Grisaia (although my version is all age, I would still play if it was the uncensored one cuz its that good), Kamidori Alchemist Meister, Da Capo, School Days, Katawa Shoujo, and for comedy value, My Girlfriend is President. Most of them have amazing stories and characters, focus on character development, and are pretty emotionally moving. But I guess by playing them I kinda "watch" (or play) hentai. :) I find most of the anime compared to the visual novels to be just bad lol. I've seen a few. And I can understand why you might be skeptical that visual novel eroge games wouldn't have a good story; but that's not true :) Of course there are some games which are pure smut too lol. Most of Manga Gamer's trash. A lot of which I picked up in the last groupees visual novel bundle because I wanted Deardrops which has a good story. Some of Manga Gamer's other "gems"(note sarcasm) include "I'm sandwiched between my wife and sister" or "Ultimate Boob Wars Big Breasts vs Flat Chests" LOL..... So yes, some novels suck -- but a lot of them are really good story wise. I know I sound like those guys who lie and say they read playboy for the articles LOL but until you play some visual novels you can't really judge :).

I've watched some, but none of it has been very appealing to me. A lot of it is too rape-y and I really don't enjoy that. Sometimes I've watched something to laugh at, and it's good for laughs if it's not creepy. I definitely don't use it for any kind of pleasure though, lol. I'd rather spend my time watching TV series, but if I had infinite time I might watch more hentai.

Most Story/Plot/Character Driven Eroge are relatively tame, even if they sometimes contain some pretty non-vanilla fetishes. I honestly don't really consider most Eroge porn, as you wouldnt consider most movies that have less than 5% of its overall content being sex, even if the said sex is pretty explicit, porn. Most of the time, in those types of eroges, its depicted somewhat tastefully. Now, Nukige, on the other hand... That is definitely pornagraphic in nature. I personally enjoy them because i enjoy romance as a genre, and i feel that VNs do a much better job at this aspect. That's not to say it doesn't suffer from the same trope ridden mess that most anime falls under. At the very least, Most VNs feature some kind of conclusion to romantic subplots, if applicable. This is something i generally have an issue with in most romance oriented anime.
