Do Hey Dude Shoes Fit Big Or Small? [Sizing Comparison Photos]

I put my hands on the most popular types of Hey Dude shoes so I could try them myself, and directly compare Hey Dude shoe sizing to the sizing of other popular shoe brands (using photos). Do Hey Dude Shoes run big or small?

Hey Dude shoes fit true to size. Like many types of slip-on shoes, Hey Dude shoes have a snug design to create a secure fit without traditional laces. When I compared Hey Dude sizing to the sizing of other popular shoes, I found the sizing and width to be very similar. My recommendation is to order your normal sizing for Hey Dude shoes. As I mentioned above, when I compared my Hey Dude shoes to other popular types of shoes, I found sizing to be very similar. For example, here are my Hey Dude shoes compared to Vans slip-on sizing:

The sizing length was very comparable to Crocs (but Crocs have a wider toe box area). Here is men’s Hey Dude Wally sizing compared to Crocs:

Many types of slip-on shoes fit a little snug compared to lace-up shoes because the slip-on shoes rely on a snug design for a secure fit. There were some lace-up shoes that I found to fit slightly bigger than Hey Dude sizing, but for the most part, the sizing was very similar even for lace-up shoes.

The Hey Dude Laila shoes are are what Hey Dude refers to as a “boat shoes”. The overall appearance is very similar to the Hey Dude Wendy Sox shoes, except the lace area is closer to the toe.

Are Hey Dude Shoes Wide Fit?

Hey Dude shoes have a regular width that does not fit wide. However, Hey Dude does offer many of its styles in a wide version.

There are types of popular shoes that have a wider toe box than Hey Dude shoes. For example, Crocs have a roomier, wider toe box. Here is a men’s Hey Dude compared to Crocs width:

***Pro Tip: One the thing you will want to consider when buying Hey Dude Shoes if you have wide feet, is the Hey Dude uses a stretch material in many of its shoes. For example, in the 9-second video below I tried to capture just how stretchy my Hey Dude shoes are:

However, not all types of Hey Dude shoes will use a stretch fabric. Some use cotton canvas, chambray, linen, or other type of material that does not have stretch.

If you are concerned about Hey Dude shoes being too narrow, it may be best to choose a Hey Dude shoe that uses the stretch fabric that can easily conform to the shape of your foot.

Hey Dude Wally Sox Classics (men’s) and Hey Dude Wendy Sox Classics (women’s) are not certified as slip-resistant. I have found the traction to be adequate for my needs, but they are not certified slip-resistant.

Do Hey Dude Shoes Stretch?

Yes, as we discussed earlier, many types of Hey Dude shoes stretch. Below I tried to capture just how stretchy the fabric is:

Are Hey Dude Shoes Comfortable?

Hey Dude shoes are very comfortable to wear in large part because, as we discussed above, the material on most (but not all) of their shoes is a stretchable material that almost feels like a thick sock against the side of the foot.

But another reason Hey Dude shoes are comfortable is they use thick memory foam insoles to provide comfort under the foot. In the photo below, I tried to capture how thick the memory foam insoles are:

Hey Dude shoes are also very lightweight, which makes them easy to wear. The men’s Hey Dude Wally Sox Classics weigh in at 0.45 pounds per shoe for a size 12 shoe:

Do Hey Dude Shoes Come in Half Sizes

Unfortunately, Hey Dude shoe sizing does not currently come in half sizes. If you are wondering do Hey Dude shoes run big or small, perhaps you usually wear a half size, and so now you are stuck in-between sizes.

The official Hey Dude Sizing page advises customers “If you usually wear half sizes, we suggest choosing the next size up for the best fit.” I am hoping the Hey Dude shoe sizing comparison photos used on this page help you find the correct fit.
