VanIslandBC V I have seen alot of Power Commander questions... so here is a summary which i think will help alot of people...... The modern EFI system on today's fuel injected motorcycles performs well (or at least somewhat acceptable on most bikes) and is and capable of delivering the proper fueling and performance under most conditions on a completely stock bike. However, the Alpha (N) /Speed Density systems EFI motorcycles utilize works off a principle of RPM x throttle position and input from various sensors. The bike's ECU programming works reasonably well when the bikes are completely stock (although the ECU programming is also very lean in certain areas for EPA reasons). When you change components such your exhaust this is a different story, as the bikes ECU is not capable of adapting to the these modifications. Although your EFI system may see the difference in intake air speed, the ECU's stock programming remains the same, delivering the same fuel at the same RPM etc. This usually leads to the EFI delivering an incorrect air/fuel ratio. Some common symptoms are surging, misfiring and loss of power. This is where the Power Commander will help! The Power Commander is a fuel injection adjustment module that plugs "inline" with the bikes' stock ECU and has the ability to add or remove fuel throughout the entire RPM range. This offers the ultimate in tuning and Air/Fuel ratio adjustment. The PC uses original equipment style connectors so that no splicing or cutting of the harness is required. Most installations take less than 15 minutes, some as little as 5 minutes, and our bikes as much as 2 hours. Changes are made to the bikes fuel via the PC's onboard microprocessor. Using this technology the Power Commander offers a large area of adjustment without making any permanent changes to the bikes factory ECU. Changes are made by making adjustments to a "Map" that is loaded into the unit. Removing the PC returns the bike to its previous stock condition. The Power Commander is the best EFI tuning module available. Installing and dyno tuning the bike you will see moderate to huge gains with the Power Commander. There are other various brands of EFI modules but because of the excellent performance gains, price, and ease of use the Dynojet Power Commander is number 1. Hope this can answer a few questions How To, Install..... http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=39231&highlight=PC3 #1 · Mar 19, 2007 (Edited) I have seen alot of Power Commander questions... so here is a summary which i think will help alot of people...... Think I might get one, really soon. #3 · Mar 19, 2007 Man, when I read the write-up here in the sticky, I thought there WAS splicing/cutting and other general things I don't want to do my bike just yet. Does that thing really just plug in and is there pretty much only one model option for our bike? #4 · Mar 19, 2007 theres two diff models....03-04 and a 05-06. they just plugs right in. u lift the tank up and unplug the lower injector plugs and put the new ones in their place and hook up the TPS sensor the same way and hook it up to the neg batt terminal. really easy. #5 · Mar 20, 2007 Added "gntbldr's" 05 Install #6 · Mar 20, 2007 There are 2 models but the only difference is the stock map in it. #7 · Mar 20, 2007 www.powercommander.com changed it's website this week. Now it shows a PCIII USB EX (new street approved) and a PCIII USB I wonder what the difference is. It wasn't like that last week. #8 · Mar 20, 2007 yeah i was wondering too, how about u read it and tell us, me lazy long time. 0 Reply #9 · Mar 20, 2007 (Edited) same here bro...eh somebody will do it. maybe tomorrow. lol, ahhhahahhhaha 0 Reply #11 · Mar 28, 2007 So anyone find out yet? #12 · Mar 28, 2007 can anyone tell us who don't have a pc how much approximate power gain can be obtained by installing and tuning a pc with minor mods like exhaust?? a dyno chart comparison would be nice too! #14 · Mar 28, 2007 it varies bro, it all depends on the tuner and how well that bike is running. Ive seen gains of as much as 10whp at some parts of th epower curve to as little as 6whp. 0 Reply #13 · Mar 28, 2007 I think I posted this somewhere on this forum already what my dealer said. "Hi Eric, The new PCIII EX offer more tuning features and an increased rev limiter over the PC III. According to my guy at Dynojet, the manufacturer, this new PCIIIEX is the only PC they will be offering for your bike, and He said it will be "available soon". " #15 · Mar 28, 2007 From the Power Commander website: About the New Power Commander III EX We are pleased to announce the latest edition to the Power Commander family, the Power Commander III EX. The PCIII EX offers virtually the same tuning functionality as our “race only” Power Commander line, while at the same time complying with the California ARB regulations. On 2007 Harley-Davidson (and the 2006 Dyna) the PCIII EX interfaces with the bikes’ stock 02 sensors to provide optimal fuel economy. Additionally, it allows fuel mapping capability (both fuel and timing) at higher RPM and throttle opening for maximum horsepower and torque. Map Compatability The PCII EX is compatible with our patented Tuning Link Software. Custom maps can be developed in much the same way as the “race only” version. Maps made for the “race only” PCIII can be loaded into the PCIII EX and are automatically converted to the proper format. Harley Davidson Specific Features Harley-Davidson motorcycles are unique and so is the Power Commander for them. Not only does the PCIII EX for HD applications offer full fuel adjustability (+/-50%, it also incorporates a built-in ignition module. Ignition timing changes of up to +4 /- 10 degrees from stock can be made. Additionally, the unit includes our Rev X-tend features that allow the user to increase the stock rev limiter to 6, 200 rpm without having to take the bike to a dealer for an expensive ECU update. Like the rest of the Power Commander line, the PCIII EX for Harley-Davidson motorcycles can map each cylinder for maximum performance regardless of the combination of parts being used. Power Commander III EX Features Dynojet Research is pleased to announce two new features for the Harley Davidson Power Commanders. * Works with Any Exhaust * Increased Horsepower & Torque * Dynamometer Tested & Development Maps * Rev X-test (a $200 value) (Increase stock rev limiter) * Individual Cylinder Mapping * Ignition Timing Adjustment * Reduces or eliminates Decel Popping To sum it up: basically it is California Legal now.
