He had been raised his entire life to fight the Uchihas as they were mortal rivals with his clan. He describes them as the following: and when he meets Sasuke, he describes him like this: So he thought he could channel their issues by giving them the police force but it led to the Uchiha being marginalized. Even his brother had to tell him to not persecute the Uchiha. However, Tobirama claims the following as well: So what do you think? I mean considering most of the villains are Uchiha, he's not entirely wrong but a lot of what he says parallels some awful stuff( Oh I only trust the good uchiha and imagine if someone said something like "I don't hate black people they just happen to catch my attention more than others).

Didn't he cause most of the damage in the story with the Uchiha? There wouldn't have been a massacre if the Uchiha felt respected and valued. However, I don't think it is clear whether the Uchiha would have followed Madara's plan of putting everyone, including the clan, in a forever genjutsu.

That was Tobi/Madara's doing as well. The plan for the rebellion was set in motion because Konoha blamed the Uchiha for the attack and they were further isolated.

He bolstered Uchiha resentment by creating the Uchiha-only police force. And that's not even going into the fact that he invented Edo Tensei for some reason. If so one of them (as a kid) got ganged up on by like 5 adult Uchihas and got merked, so I can see that trauma being something he never worked past. Of course that doesn't excuse his actions but sadly the story never goes out of its way to chastise him as far as I can remember.

I never watched the anime but couldn't remember them going indepth about the brothers in the manga, though maybe I just forgot

It is canon. It's chapter 622 in the manga, where two of the 1st/2nd hokages siblings are killed in a ninja war where they were fighting against the Uchiha (and others).

I think his brothers were killed in the manga as well. Check the side, his first chapter appearance was 622. All the talk of Tobirama being the entire cause of the series, I think that's pretty wrong. Madara was scheming regardless of what Tobirama did or didn't do. Tobirama is a racist but the story justifies him time and time again.

The series also doesn't really seem to agree with him, because Hashirama spends that chapter shitting on his behavior, and ultimately his mistrust made everything worse.

Their not evil genetically, their powers worked by overwhelming emotions but Naruto is a story about the impact of war and trauma so along with some meddling it got warped into suffering traumatic events would cause it to awaken. For instance when sarada was close to seeing her father for the 1st time in years it awakened her sharingan

This is kind of a misconception though. Only a very rare few individuals could do that. Most Uchiha could not use the Mangekyou Sharingan and a good number of them never even awakened their Sharingan. There were always rare exceptional individuals of all kinds of background with powerful and dangerous abilities not just Uchihas.

Madara was actually happy to live in peace with Hashirama after they founded the Leaf Village. It was the Senju and other clans that conspired against Madara and the Uchiha in the background which led to Madara leaving the village. And remember, the other Uchiha didn't really agree with Madara when he said the Senju were going to try and marginalize them. Lo and behold, that's exactly what ended up happening. The Senju never trusted the Uchiha and couldn't let go of their hate. It was only Hashirama who did and even he eventually gave up on Madara, which is something even Madara points out. They just kept continuing the cycle of hatred because they couldn't let go. The Senju and Uchiha conflict originated from the conflict between their progenitors, Ashura and Indra. They were always meant to fight and kill each other through their descendants and their reincarnations. That cycle only ended when Naruto decided not to give up on Sasuke unlike those who came before him. The story doesn't justify that Tobirama was right, it shows exactly why he was wrong.

Upgrading your Sharingan to MS makes you more prone to evil but plenty of Uchiha never had Sharingan to begin with and most never got to MS. And even some of the ones that did get to MS, were still Konoha patriots like Itachi and Shisui. Anyways, you can be a regular Sharingan user and you'll still most likely be a regular person.
