Do You Have Any Thoughts On The Dreams That Mamoru...

So many questions and possibilities indeed. These things are never really explained in the manga, so I can only really say what I think plausible and a whole lot of headcanoning.

We know that Mamoru has dreams about a princess (or is it that specific? I think in the manga it could have been more ambigious in the beginning). She has very long hair but otherwise, he can’t make out her features. She asks him for the Silver Crystal and the dreams have started after he lost his memories after the car crash and recurred ever since. It’s debatable if he had them before and just couldn’t remember them anymore.

We later learn that Mamoru has a whole range of psychic skills, including prophetic dreams. I’m not sure if I would say that those dreams about the Silver Crystal are prophetic though because then he would probably dream of Sailor Moon instead of Serenity. Instead, I think the dreams are echoes of his past life, trying to steer him into action and into Serenity’s path.

[In any case, Endymion should have known about the Silver Crystal, since its power and wielder (Queen Serenity) were common knowledge and criticised by Earthlings?/Terrans? during the SilMil. Earth and Moon (and the rest of the planets) might not have interacted much but they were aware of each other. I mean, the people of Earth were jealous of the longevity of the SilMil people and at the same time, Serenity knew also about the Prince of Earth and kept track of the planet (and its prince ^.^) via this flatscreen-thingy, so Earth didn’t seem completely out of the loop. Also, in Codename Sailor V, it seems as if planet Venus was closely aligned with Earth, at least more so than any other planet. So, yeah it isn’t too far-fetched to assume that Endymion, as part of the royal family, knew about the Silver Crystal (especially since Beryl did, too). But even if he never heard of it, the dreams are sent by Serenity to Mamoru and not Endymion and she knows about the Silver Crystal.]

I believe that Serenity and Endymion were soulmates destined to meet again. And it’s not about meeting the same way or making the same choices as them, but Usagi and Mamoru should have at least a chance to meet each other and fall in love again. And that’s now only my opinion but I don’t think that Mamoru was meant to find the Silver Crystal per se. I mean what would/could he do with it?

Mamoru, more than anything, wants his memories from his childhood back. He has the same recurring dream for over ten years. He links those two together but the dreams never really promise him his memories (ironically, he gets his memories from his past life back). In his dreams, the princess only asks for help to find the Silver Crystal but that finding it would give him back his memories is Mamoru’s own assumption. So, Mamoru should go looking for the Silver Crystal but if he can’t use it and it won’t give him back the memories he wants, what would this quest actually accomplish?

However, if you believe that Serenity and Endymion, and therefore Usagi and Mamoru, were already connected to each other subconsciously (which I do) then Serenity’s plea to find the Silver Crystal is more of a means to actually find her/Usagi. Because if Mamoru goes looking for the Silver Crystal, it’s only a matter of time before he crosses ways with Usagi/Serenity/Sailor Moon. I guess that’s not how Naoko intended the storyline but otherwise, it makes no sense that Mamoru specifically (out of all the Senshi) should be given the task by Serenity to look for the Silver Crystal; Mamoru was also the one who knew of the Silver Crystal before Luna even revealed that this is part of the Senshi’s mission in Act 3.

[Now, one could question if Serenity is even aware that she hosts the Silver Crystal but why not? If the SilMil has fallen and the old Queen is dead, the Silver Crystal should be accessible to the heir and, therefore, close by and unavailable for any enemy. Princess Serenity might have never used the Silver Crystal herself but she should know how it works and that her mother’s death would mean that she’s its next wielder, at least subconsciously.]

It’s Endymion/Mamoru that Serenity asks for help and if not for his dreams, Usagi and Mamoru wouldn’t have crossed ways as often. They wouldn’t have met in front of the jewellery store in Act 1, their meeting in Act 2 is debatable but they wouldn’t have crossed paths in Act 3 and 4 (and every other Act hereafter) if not for Mamoru’s quest for the Silver Crystal. So, in my opinion, Mamoru got those dreams to find Serenity and give her and Endymion a new chance to meet and fall in love again.

And I have to admit, I kinda dig the idea that, especially as children, the remains of their soulmate’s soul is manifested during their dreams. I wanted to draw a picture where you see a little Mamoru being comforted by Serenity (probably sometime after his parent’s death) and an even smaller Usagi being cheered up by Endymion in some dreamscape of sorts. Because no matter how futile his search proved to be in order to regain his memories, it still gave Mamoru hope and a purpose and allowed him to create a new identity for himself that made it possible to meet a girl like no other. He might not have regained the past he hoped for but the dreams gave him something better: a future, a family and a love that spans millenia. ^.^
