Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Clocked At 211 MPH, Is As Fast As ...

When Dodge released the Challenger SRT Demon in 2018 it said the street-legal drag race car had a theoretical top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Since then, many people tried to prove Dodge wrong — some quite successfully, we might add. The last time we heard about the Demon’s top speed was when it was clocked at more than 203 mph (327 km/h) at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida.

However, the most recent test session on the widest and flattest runway in the world on March 9, revealed the Challenger SRT Demon is capable of going even faster. Fitted with the optional Demon Crate, the 840hp muscle car managed to reach a top speed of 211.227 mph (339.937 km/h) on the 2.7-mile (4.3-km) stretch of asphalt.

That makes the Challenger SRT Demon just as fast as the Ferrari 488 Pista, Ferrari 812 Superfast, McLaren Senna, and Porsche 911 GT2 RS! The run was timed and speed checked with Garmin and GoPro interior monitoring systems, while external timing and speed were performed by the International Mile Racing Association (IMRA) — a sanctioning body accepted by numerous auto groups and the Guinness Book of World Records.

Something worth noting was how stable the Demon was at such a high speed, according to the professional racing driver who was behind the wheel of the muscle car that day. Check it out for yourself by watching the following video that documents the top speed run.

Before you do that, let us remind you that the optional Demon Crate helps unleash the muscle car’s full potential at the drag strip, allowing the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 engine to produce 840 hp and 770 lb-ft (1,044 Nm) of torque. The package also brings skinny front tires but the Demon that exceeded 211 mph seems to have skipped those.
