Origin[]

Not much known about DK's past is revealed, aside from the fact that he is supposedly the third ape to go by the name of "Donkey Kong". As shown in Yoshi's Island DS, he, alongside the Mario Bros., Princess Peach, Wario, Yoshi and Bowser are the seven Star Children, possessing legendary power. In DK's case he is given abnormal levels of strength.

In the Mario Party series[]

Mario Party[]

Donkey Kong is one of the first playable characters in this game. Like everyone else, DK has his own board known as DK's Jungle Adventure. The main feature of that board is that the players can get through a Whomp by paying him 10 coins, otherwise, the players will have to move on to the open path. Another feature is that if they encounter a Coin Stone, the players must have 20 coins or more in order for that Coin Stone to open, though it is still their choice if they can go through the open door or not. If a player lands on a Happening Space, then a giant boulder will roll from the northeast to the left, then down, passing on Bowser's path. Any player who is in the path of the rolling boulder will run away from that boulder all the way near the Start.

Mario Party 2[]

Donkey Kong is playable in this game, and his favorite item is Bowser Bomb.

Mario Party 3[]

Donkey Kong is playable in this game, and his favorite item is a Reverse Mushroom. In Duel Board, his partner is Whomp. In Story Mode, DK is the player's opponent for the Strength Star Stamp. However, if the player is DK, Luigi is his opponent.

Mario Party 4[]

This was the last game where Donkey Kong was playable until he was brought back with the release of Mario Party 10.

Mario Party 5[]

Starting from this game, Donkey Kong is no longer playable (though he is only playable in Super Duel Mode), but he does make an appearance as DK Space in all boards.

Mario Party 6[]

Donkey Kong makes his appearance as DK Space in all boards.

Mario Party 7[]

Donkey Kong makes his appearance as DK Space in all boards.

Mario Party 8[]

Donkey Kong makes his appearance as DK Space in all boards, and there is also a stage for DK known as DK's Treetop Temple.

Mario Party DS[]

Though there are no DK Spaces in this game, Donkey Kong makes an appearance as a host of DK's Stone Statue.

Mario Party 9[]

Donkey Kong makes his appearance as DK Space in all boards. He also hosts an unlockable board DK's Jungle Ruins.

Mario Party 10[]

Donkey Kong returns as a playable character in this game. His own board, Donkey Kong Board, is unlocked with a Donkey Kong amiibo in amiibo Party.

Mario Party Star Rush[]

Donkey Kong reappears as a unlockable character.

Super Mario Party[]

Donkey Kong is an unlockable character in Super Mario Party.
