UK term: Double Crochet UK abbreviation: dc USA term: Single Crochet USA abbreviation: sc Turning Chain: 1 Notes: One of the two most commonly used stitches in crochet, tr (dc) is the other. This stitch makes a good firm fabric with small holes, good for toys and pincushions as the stuffing won’t show. However, the fabric doesn't have as much give or drape and is a short stitch so is slow to work up. Tutorial: 
1. When you are at the point where you'd like to make your dc stitch. 
2. Insert your hook into the stitch (or chain space) that you’d like the dc to be made in. 
2. Wrap the yarn over your hook and pull the yarn through the stitch. You now have 2 loops on the hook. 
3. Wrap the yarn over your hook again. 
4. Pull the yarn through the 2 loops already on your hook. 
5. The double crochet (single crochet) stitch is now complete. Beginning a row: 
Work into the first stitch of the row 
Work into the last stitch of the row, but not the chain. (You’ll barely be able to see it anyway).
