What is Double Eyelid Surgery in Singapore?

A more permanent method of creating double eyelids in Singapore will often involve incisional methods, surgical procedures and plastic surgery techniques performed by a plastic surgeon. Both incisional and non-incisional methods that affect the eyelid skin should only be carried out by board-certified plastic surgeons.

Double Eyelid Surgery involves the surgical removal of tissue and muscle to create a crease. Sometimes, it is performed along with an epicanthoplasty, a procedure used to increase the width of the eyes to create bigger and more attractive eyes.

What can I expect during Double Eyelid Surgery in Singapore?

This procedure is performed by Dr Samuel Ho. Trained in Korea, Dr Ho has extensive experience in performing delicate and intricate eye rejuvenation and surgery. Prior to the procedure, Dr Samuel Ho will conduct a detailed consultation to evaluate your facial anatomy and discuss with you the changes you desire.

The procedure takes about 20 minutes. It is a safe and straightforward procedure that is carried out on an outpatient basis, meaning there is no need for an overnight stay. 

Patients are given anaesthesia and are comfortable throughout the procedure.

What’s the difference between a Double Suture Technique and a Triple Suture Technique?

Compared to a conventional double eyelid procedure, the double suture technique entails a shorter recovery time and a less invasive procedure without compromising on the aesthetic results. However, there are incidences of the sutures loosening and the fold becoming less obvious over time, especially in patients with thicker skin. 

A triple suture technique, on the other hand, is created using three looped sutures that reinforce the fold. This, in turn, lowers the chances of the suture loosening or breaking, creating longer-lasting results. To date, only a few plastic surgeons in Singapore perform this double eyelid technique. 

What can I expect during recovery?

Initially, you may experience swelling and discomfort which should subside within 2 weeks. Get plenty of rest, and avoid rubbing your eyes and excessive sun exposure. Antibiotics may be prescribed by your plastic surgeon to protect against infection.  

Sutures can be removed 5 days after surgery. 

How long do the effects of Double Eyelid Surgery last?

For a non-incisional method, the double eyelid crease can last beyond 10 years. An incisional procedure creates a more permanent effect.
