The third season of Dr. Stone is set to arrive in Spring 2023 with the title of Dr. Stone: New World.

Like the recent “Ryusei” special, Shuuhei Matsushita (Yu-No: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World assistant director) is directing Dr. Stone: New World instead of the first two seasons’ Shinya Iino. Returning staff include Yuuichirou Kido as series composer and scriptwriter, Mayuko Iwasa as character designer, Yoshio Mizumura for design works, Hiroyuki Horiuchi as main animator, Shunichiro Yoshihara as art director, Fuzako Nakao as color designer, Takeshi Kuzuyama as photography director, and Tatsuya Katou, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and YUKI KANESAKA as music composers. TMS Entertainment is the animation production company.

Dr. Stone is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Riichirou Inagaki and Boichi, which ran from 2017 to 2022 in Weekly Shonen Jump with 26 tankoubon volumes published under the Jump Comics label. A spin-off titled Dr. Stone Reboot: Byakuya, also by Riichirou Inagaki and Boichi, was released in 2019.

Several thousand years after a mysterious phenomenon that turns all of humanity to stone, the extraordinarily intelligent, science-driven boy, Senku Ishigami, awakens. Facing a world of stone and the total collapse of civilization, Senku makes up his mind to use science to rebuild the world. Starting with his super strong childhood friend Taiju Oki, who awakened at the same time, they will begin to rebuild civilization from nothing… Depicting two million years of scientific history from the Stone Age to present day, the unprecedented crafting adventure story is about to begin!
