Drag Race Italia is the Italian version of RuPaul's Drag Race. The show was first "confirmed" by an Italian website called davidemaggio.it.[8] The same news were then re-published by numerous other Italian news websites and spread all over social media, especially among Italian users and pages.
On July 1, 2021, Drag Race Italia was officially confirmed by World of Wonder through its Instagram accounts. In this occasion it was also announced that the show will soon be available on the company's online streaming service, WOW Presents Plus, to all countries excluding Italy, where it will be distributed by Discovery+.[9]
Season 1 and its cast was announced on 29 October, 2021 and the series aired on November 18, 2021. Eight contestants competed for the chance to win a crown and scepter from Aster Lab, the ability to be the ambassador for MAC Cosmetics for a year and the ability to produce a limited edition line of products with their name.
After some light teasin through Instagram comments, in an interview with Radio Marte featuring showrunner Dimitri Cocciuti and Priscilla, the former said: "Stiamo per tornare, torniamo prestissimo! Così mi riprendo la mia Priscilla.".[10][11] Again, during an interview with The Playlist published in March 2025, World of Wonder producer Fenton Bailey, when asked about the future of Drag Race Italia, stated: "It will come back, yes.", implying that the show will return with a fourth season.[12]

After The Race is a companion web series of exit interview for the contestants of Drag Race Italia, hosted by Tommaso Zorzi. This series highlights the contestants' run on the show, as well as various garments viewers did not see on the main stage. It is similar to what Whatcha Packin' is for RuPaul's Drag Race. With Drag Race Italia moving from Discovery+ to Paramount+ (and also Tommaso Zorzi not reprising his role as a regular judge on Season 3), the series was not renewed for a third season.
