Come Undone Lyrics

[Verse 1: Simon Le Bon & Tessa Niles]Mine immaculate dreamMade breath and skin, I've been waiting for youSigned, with a home tattooHappy birthday to you was created for you(Can't ever keep from falling apart at the seams)(Can not believe you've taken my heart to pieces)Oh, it'll take a little timeMight take a little crimeTo come undone now[Pre-Chorus: Simon Le Bon]We'll try to stay blindTo the hope and fear outsideHey child, stay wilder than the windAnd blow me in to cry[Chorus 1: Simon Le Bon]Who do you need? Who do you loveWhen you come undone?Who do you need? Who do you loveWhen you come undone?[Verse 2: Simon Le Bon & Tessa Niles]Words, playing me déjà vuLike a radio tune, I swear I've heard beforeChills, is it something realOr the magic I'm feeding off your fingers?(Can't ever keep from falling apart at the seams)(Can not believe you're taking my heart to pieces)Lost, in a snow filled skyWe'll make it alrightTo come undone now[Pre-Chorus: Simon Le Bon]We'll try to stay blindTo the hope and fear outsideHey child, stay wilder than the windAnd blow me in to cry[Chorus 1: Simon Le Bon]Who do you need? Who do you loveWhen you come undone?Who do you need? Who do you loveWhen you come undone?[Chorus 2: Simon Le Bon & Tessa Niles](Can't ever keep from falling apart)Who do you need? Who do you loveWhen you come undone?(Can't ever keep from falling apart)Who do you need? (Who do you love?) Who do you love?(Can't ever keep from falling apart)(Who do you love?) “Come Undone” is the sixth track of The Wedding Album by English band Duran Duran, published on February 11, 1993 by the label Capitol (for the US), Parlophone UK and EMI Music.

The song was released in March 1993 as the second single, after the international hit “Ordinary World”, from the album and it had a considerable success, entering in the top ten in all the most relevant charts in the world and reaching number one in Israel. “Come Undone”, as well as the previous single, is supposed to be a significant marker of Duran Duran’s entry in adult contemporary radio format.

The instrumentation, substained by a sample of the legendary instrumental break “Ashley’s Roachclip” by The Soul Searchers, was cured by Warren Cuccurullo, the group’s guitarist at the time, whereas the lyrics were written by the lead singer Simon Le Bon as a gift for his wife Yasmin. Even though this is one of the best-known songs of the band, it was added to The Wedding Album only during the last recording sessions, as it was originally recorded for a side-project by Nick Rhodes!

It was something that Warren and I started writing alongside some other stuff that we’d been playing around with, and Simon came in and heard what we were doing. He said, ‘Wow, I love that!’. And so it became a Duran Duran song. Simon came up with a really great melody – we already had the 'can’t ever keep from falling apart’ section – and he very quickly made it his, or himself part of it. It’s one of the very few songs that we’ve ever written, certainly whilst John was in the band, that he didn’t play on, and he plays it beautifully live. I wish he had played on it in the studio, but he was in LA and we were all in London. It was the last piece of music to be added to the album, so it was really almost an afterthought: ‘Hey, we’ve written this and it’s pretty good. We should put it on the album.’ And so the story goes. It was done quite quickly. We had most of it done in a day.

Nick Rhodes – Idolator interview

At the time, we had completed and mastered The Wedding Album and had started the cover album Thank You. One day, we took the drum loop and bass groove from a demo of mine called “Face to Face” and added the ultra cool guitar riff that Warren had come up with for a new ‘cover’ version of “First Impression”. After a couple of hours of tweaking, we played the track over the phone to Capitol in Los Angeles and they loved it and said they wanted it on The Wedding Album! When Nick arrived that afternoon, the intro was carved into a song that we played to Simon that night. He was back the next day with the lyrics and the melody and I think we finished the vocals the day after that. On the fourth day, we finished the track detail and sent it to David Richards in Switzerland to be mixed.
