Dying Light 2: Can You Repair Weapons And Restore Durability?

Learning how to repair weapons in Dying Light 2 is the first task on many players’ lists. Every weapon in the game has durability, and once it’s gone, the weapon breaks. That’s not a big deal with common or uncommon items, but what about that Gold tier item that took forever to get? Unfortunately, the answer to this question isn’t as straightforward as it was in the original Dying Light (and there’s not as many weapon types), and we’ll examine why below.

Can I repair weapons in Dying Light 2?

Players can repair weapons in Dying Light 2. However, the system doesn’t work as it does in the first game. Players can only repair weapons as many times as they have mod slots. Each mod with the “Weapon Repair” modifier adds +50 durability to a weapon. So, depending on the number of slots an item has, players can potentially repair up to 300 points of durability (on a Gold tier weapon). One thing to keep in mind is that these mods don’t add to the total durability. So, players should ensure that they use up at least 50 points before equipping a mod. Otherwise, the repair is wasted.

Additionally, a grip mod called Reinforcement reduces durability loss by a certain percentage. This mod has ten levels, and each one reduces durability loss by 10%. It supposedly prevents 100% of durability reduction at level ten, but that’s not actually the case. Even with the mod maxed out, durability will continue to deplete, albeit very slowly.

Players can also seek out the Korek Charm blueprint to craft an item that adds +500 to a weapon. Unfortunately, this blueprint is well hidden and is something players won’t get a chance to acquire until the mid-late game.

So, while the system is cumbersome, players can repair weapons in Dying Light 2. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Techland patched this system in the future since it puts a lot of undue stress on the player.
