Eaglesoft - Learn the difference between a Responsible Party and a Policy Holder as well as how to edit them.
Applies to: Eaglesoft, all versions
Resolution:

Responsible Party - Person responsible for paying the patient portion of the billed services and receives statements.

Policy Holder - Person responsible for the patient's insurance.

To transfer patients to a different Responsible Party, or to make a patient his/her own Responsible Party:

  • Go to Utilities | Patient Transfer. Patients cannot be transferred if they are responsible for other persons and/or have outstanding claims.

Policy Holders may be edited by editing a person and removing the insurance; however, the insurance policy must first be removed from all other persons on that account that have the same policy in Edit Person screen.
