Transform ordinary canned corn into an extraordinary side dish with this easy 10-minute Canned Corn Recipe featuring butter, garlic, and fresh herbs. Perfect for busy weeknights!

🌽 This seasoned corn pairs beautifully with everything from grilled chicken and steak to fish tacos and barbecue ribs. It's also fantastic as a base for other dishes like corn salad, quesadilla filling, or mixed into rice bowls.
My 2 Best Tips For How To Make Moist Cornbread
Don't Skip the Liquid Reduction: The key to restaurant-quality flavor is allowing the corn liquid to reduce and concentrate in the pan. This creates a glossy, flavorful coating that clings to each kernel instead of a watery, bland side dish.
Use Fresh Garlic: While garlic powder works in a pinch, fresh minced garlic provides the best flavor for this simple canned corn recipe. Press or mince it finely so it distributes evenly and doesn't burn during the short cooking time.

If you feel like your side dish game is lacking, this canned corn recipe is the perfect solution. It's quick, easy, and packed with flavor - making it a go-to for any meal!
I think canned vegetables get a bad rap most of the time, but when fixed correctly they can be a delicious and flavorful side dish! Plus they are super affordable and something you can store in your panty for cold months or when you're in a pinch for a quick veggie.
With just a few additional ingredients, you can take it to the next level and truly make it your own. This recipe is perfect for those busy weeknights when you need something quick and delicious!

Recipe FAQs
Can I use frozen corn instead of canned corn for this recipe?Yes! If using frozen corn, thaw it first and add about 2-3 tablespoons of water or chicken broth to the pan since frozen corn doesn't come with liquid like canned corn does. Cook for the same amount of time until heated through.
Should I rinse the canned corn before using it?For this recipe, don't rinse the corn since we're using some of the liquid to help create the flavorful base. However, if you prefer less sodium, you can rinse the corn and add a few tablespoons of water or broth to the pan instead.
How long does leftover canned corn keep in the refrigerator? This seasoned corn will keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 days when stored in an airtight container. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of water if needed to prevent sticking.

ReplyThis corn was excellent. I did the bacon bit add-in, and also added a wee bit of smoky paprika.
-
I made this according to the recipe. In addition I added 1 Tbs granulated sugar because that’s what I grew up on. It was good. I’ll try it again to see if I’ll make it a staple in my rotation.

I have made this several times for my family and decided to serve at a dinner party. No one believed it was canned corn and several asked for the recipe. A winner.

ReplyI was looking for something to do with an ordinary can of corn and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your recipe. I prepared it the same with the following modifications: I lowered the salt to 1/4 tsp and added 1/4 tsp of paprika. My whole family loved it! Thank you for the recipe Alli!

ReplyHello. Planning on making this for a large thanksgiving. Ok to use basic canned corn or does it need to be sweet? Can I make in advance and warm in microwave before serving?
-
Yes, you can definitely make this in advance and reheat before serving. Typically all canned corn is sweet corn. The cans are usually labeled "golden sweet whole kernel corn." Hope that helps!

ReplyTried this on frozen corn and turned out great. Now I have a new technique to dress up a staple in our house.

Help! Making recipe for first time. How much garlic powder equates to one garlic clove? Where is the slide of measurements to use when increasing the serving size?
Reply-
You can adjust the servings in the recipe card by clicking the number of servings and then sliding the bar. You can substitute 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder for 1 garlic clove.

1/8 tsp of granulated garlic equals a clove 🙂

ReplySo simple, I've never once considered simmering the corn in the can's liquid, it gave it a bit more snap than I'm used to and the dish was fantastic. I snack on corn often, this is now my go-to recipe.

I need fairly quickly how I can make to serve 25-28 adults. Church is having our Thanksgiving Fellowship this Sunday. I am not sure if multiplying 6X for all ingredients would be correct. I saw where one person added cream corn, that sounded interesting also to regular canned corn. I will make this recipe for just the two of us. I hope I can find you here again to get your answer.

Hi Roxanne! If you find the recipe card and slide the bar under the "servings" section, it will automatically adjust all the ingredients for however many people you need to serve! Super easy. Good luck!

I made this side dish of corn for friends and family tonight, and it was great. Never ever had I had so many people say, "who made the corn"? I didn't get a lot because it was gone so fast, so I made myself some more for breakfast. ???? Thx so much for sharing.

Are the nutritional facts correct? High in fat, calories & sodium?
Reply-
Two things to remember when looking at the nutrition facts on my website: First, they are just an estimate. Second, they are based on the servings listed in the recipe. In this case, the serving size is currently listed as 2 servings, obviously, this would change depending on how many people you think 1 can of corn would feed and how you're using it in your meal. Hope that helps!
Reply-
The serving size in the recipe at the top says it serves 4 people? So I only bought one can of corn. 🙁
Reply-
If one can isn't enough for your family, you can definitely double the recipe. The serving size and nutrition facts are just an estimate, I try my best to make it as accurate as possible but a lot of serving size comes down to preference. Ultimately it's up to you to determine how much you think you'll need for those you are serving. When in doubt, purchase an extra can 🙂

What could we substitute the garlic with, we are not garlic lovers?

Hi Dave! You could substitute a shallot for the garlic. They have a more mild onion flavor that I think would be great!
