Let’s be honest.
Gravy makes everything better.
By everything I mean chicken, turkey, roast beef, biscuits, mashed potatoes, and stuffing….
I’m sure I could think of uses for it too besides just eating it right off a spoon.
And this KFC copycat brown gravy is delicious enough that you might want to eat it right off a spoon.
I totally won’t judge if you do!

Ingredients
To make this, you’ll need:
Pin
Butter– I recommend unsalted so you can control how salty your gravy is.
Flour– Regular all purpose flour.
Chicken bouillon powder– 1 tablespoon or 2 packets depending on what kind you use.
Spices– Garlic powder, dried parsley, and black pepper
Beef broth– Chicken broth will work in a pinch but it won’t be brown if you don’t use beef broth!

How to Make
To make this brown gravy, melt the butter in a large pot.
Once the butter is melted, whisk in the flour so it is the consistency of paste. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture is golden.
Pin
Next, stir in the bouillon powder, garlic powder, parsley, and pepper.
Slowly whisk in the beef broth a little at a time.
Mix it well after each addition.
Pin
Bring it to a simmer and allow to cook until desired thickness is reached.
Serve warm and enjoy!

Storing leftovers
Gravy separates if you store it too long in the fridge. Store it in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze it in a freezer safe container for a month.
How much gravy does this make?
This recipe yields 2 cups of gravy or 8 half cup servings.

Tips and tricks
Make sure to whisk the flour and the butter into a smooth paste and get all the lumps of flour out in the process. If you don’t the gravy will be lumpy.
This recipe is easy to double if you are serving a crowd.
The gravy will thicken more as it cools.
