A baron in Germany named Karl von Drais created the first steerable, two-wheeled contraption in 1817. Known sometimes as the “velocipede,” “hobby-horse,” and “running machine,” this early invention made him widely considered as the father of the bicycle.

Materials for Bike Drawing

Colored Pencils or Crayons

A permanent marker will give you a dark black color.

Directions for Bike Drawing Step by Step

Time needed: 45 minutes

Draw a Bike with Step by Step Instructions

  1. Draw a circle for the front wheel and rear wheel.

  2. Draw smaller circles in the center of each wheel.

  3. Add a fender for the front of the bike and the back wheel.

  4. Add the wheel center and oval shape that holds the bike’s chain.

  5. Start the bike bars.

  6. Add a foot pedal, bike seat and bar.

  8. Add handles and reflectors for a complete bike drawing.

  9. Trace with marker and color with crayon.
