With the advent of jigging rods with very small guide eyelets, the FG knot has come into it’s own as the best way to join braid to mono leader.

However the FG knot can be a complicated fishing knot to tie, especially on a moving boat, and if you don’t tie it tightly enough, it will come undone and you’ll lose that trophy fish.

Yes I have seen this happen on numerous occasions.

Now for many years I’ve used a wind on leader system consisting of a bimini twist double to albright knot for pretty much all my fishing applications.

But the albright is a bit chunky and won’t easily move through those small top guides, defeating the purpose of the wind on leader system.

So in this short video, I’ll show you how I tie an FG knot so that the wraps are TIGHT and won’t come undone, even when your platform is a moving boat.
