How do I cancel an item from my Target order?

You can request a cancellation depending on the status of items in the order.Target app
  1. Select the order from your purchases in the mobile app to view order details.
  2. Select Cancel items. Please note the option to cancel items will only appear for items that have yet to process for shipping.
  3. Select the item(s) you wish to cancel, then select a cancellation reason. These details help us find ways to improve your online shopping experience.
  4. Select Cancel items.

  1. Select the order in your Target account to view order details (you'll need to sign in).
  2. Locate the item(s) you wish to cancel and select Request cancellation.
  • Please note the option to request cancellation will only appear for items that have yet to process for shipping. 
  1. Choose a cancellation reason, then select Cancel item.

After requesting cancellationYou'll receive an email confirming the cancellation status. You won’t be charged for a canceled item, but your card may reflect a temporary authorization hold. Funds will become available once your bank releases the hold.If the cancellation window has passed, you can still refuse the order upon delivery. When we receive your refused order, we’ll process the return and send an email confirmation regarding your refund. You can also return your order to any Target store or by mail using a prepaid Target.com return label.

Why was my Target order canceled?

We'll send an email confirmation as soon as we receive your order. Once we start processing it, items may be canceled for reasons such as:
  • An item becomes unavailable
  • The payment method can't be processed
  • The shipping address can't be verified
For Order Pickup or Drive Up, we'll cancel items that aren't picked up during the pickup window. We'll send an email about the cancellation and, when possible, include helpful details around updating payment or address details or reordering items.

Can I stop a Target.com order from being delivered?

We do our best to ship orders quickly. Depending on the order status, you may be able to cancel your order. It may also be possible to request an address change. Once your order has shipped and tracking details are available, you can contact the carrier directly to refuse the delivery.  Learn about the additional services our shipping carriers offer for your Target.com shipments.

Can I change the address on my Target order?

Depending on the status of items in the order, you can request an address change to an addressed saved to your Target.com account.
  1. Select the order in your Target.com account or the mobile app to view order details (you'll need to sign in). 
  2. Select Request address change. Please note this option will only appear for items that have yet to ship. 
  3. Select one of the addresses saved to your account.
    • To ship to an address not listed, visit your Addresses, then select Add a new address. You'll need to restart the address-change request once you've saved the new address.
  4. Select Continue and review updated order details.
    • Please note that changing the shipping address may change the estimated delivery date, shipping speed and/or taxes.
  5. Select Request address change.
  6. We'll email a status on your request.

Can I modify the payment on my Target order?

Depending on the status of your order, you may be able to modify the payment method on your order. 
  1. Sign in to your Target.com account.
  2. Find the order you want to update, then select the order total.
  3. Select Request payment change on Order details page.
  4. Select a new payment card on Request payment change page. Select Continue.
    • Add or edit payment in your account.
    • The ability to change the payment method is a short window.
  5. Enter CVV in security code field in pop-up window. Select Confirm.
  6. Review order updates. Select Request payment change.
If any part of your order has shipped or invoiced, we're unable to modify your payment for the other items. If your order is one of the following, we’re also unable to update your payment method: 
  • Advanced Order (BTC)
  • Same Day Delivery
  • Shipt tips
  • School List Assist (BTS)
  • Target Plus

Why was my order split into two order numbers?

Orders containing a combination of items sold by Target, via Same Day Delivery and a Target Plus™ Partner will be split into multiple orders. You’ll receive one order number and confirmation email for items sold by Target, and a separate order number and confirmation email for items sold by Target Plus Partners.

Why did I receive unfamiliar order information?

In most instances, these situations are the result of mistyped entries by guests with personal information similar to yours, such as a similar phone number or email address. While you may occasionally receive unfamiliar order information due to these typographical errors, there is no associated security risk for either party.If you suspect that your personal information has been compromised, please review all Target.com orders and associated payment information, then contact your financial institution for any unidentified charges. If needed, please chat or give us a call at 1-800-591-3869, and our team members will be happy to assist in disabling the Target.com account. We also encourage you to change the passwords associated with your personal email, shopping information and online banking access to maintain strong security.
