Hi there NABRN4816,

We understand you aren't receiving notifications for a contact when Do Not Disturb is on although you've set up emergency bypass for that contact. We're glad you're here, and we'd like to learn more to see how we can help.

To begin, if you go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb, are there any people added in the Allowed Notifications section? Learn more here:

Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Next, you'll want to ensure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version, which is iOS 15.2.1. If needed, learn how to update here:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Send over these details, and we'll take a closer look from there.

Cheers!

Emergency Bypass still works. To check to ensure that it is still activated, go to Contacts and select the contact that you are concerned with. Tap Edit in the upper right corner of the screen and then tap on Ringtone if you wish to get a bypass for phone calls. The next screen provides you with a switch at the top of that page to turn on Emergency Bypass. If you wish for bypass for a text message, then tap on the text message sound and you will see the same type of page and you can turn on Emergency Bypass switch there. After that, tap on Done.

Do you happen to have an Apple Watch paired with your iPhone?

NABRN4816,

Thanks for clarifying that for us. We can provide some additional guidance.

"In Ring mode, you hear ringtones and alerts. In Silent mode, you don't, but your iPhone can still play sounds, like when you play music or videos."

With that said, you won't hear any alerts in Silent mode.

Take care.

I don’t understand. The problem isn’t solved. Prior to my upgrade, when my phone was on silent and I had emergency bypass set I got notifications from those individuals. This no longer works, if you aren’t able to help is there someone else available? There’s many threads about this but no resolution.

I have already done the above steps and my emergency bypass still does not work on silent mode. I have researched the forums and this has been a problem since November with no avail. My emergency bypass contact(s) have a phone and text notification set along with vibration patterns and is not working. The only time my alerts go off is if I am currently using my phone and it is not locked. If my phone is locked no alerts and my screen doesn’t even light up. I either need a resolution or I’ll have to go to a different phone.

No, when do not disturb is not on. I have a contact who I always need notifications from and my phone is always on silent, not do not disturb. I’ve always received notifications while on silent up until iOS 15 and iPhone 13 pro mini.
