Etymology & Historical Origin of the Baby Name Emiliano
Emiliano is the Spanish and Italian form of the old Roman cognomen Aemilianus, which was derived from the family name Aemilius coming from the Latin word “aemulus” meaning ‘rival’. This family name is thought to date all the way back to the 8th century B.C. shortly after the legendary founding of Rome by Romulus. Among the oldest and most distinguished of all Roman patrician families, Aemilius would have been considered “gentes maiores” (Latin for major nation). It was Mamercus who first received the name Aemilius on account of the persuasiveness of his language. Mamercus is sometimes represented as the son of Numa (second King of Rome) or Pythagoras (the ancient Greek philosopher and mathmetician). By the 5th century B.C. members of the house of Aemilius obtained consulship, the highest elected political position in the Roman Republic. Perhaps Aemilius’ long and enduring significance in Roman history could be considered hard to ‘rival’. Emiliano is currently the 4th most popular name in Mexico (2010).All About the Baby Name – Emiliano
Personality
OF THE BOY NAME EMILIANO
Romance is the hallmark of the Six personality. They exude nurturing, loving, and caring energy. Sixes are in love with the idea of love in its idealized form - and with their magnetic personalities, they easily draw people toward them. Like the number Two personality, they seek balance and harmony in their life and the world at large. They are conscientious and service-oriented, and a champion for the underdog. These personalities naturally attract money and are usually surrounded by lovely material objects - but their human relationships are always primary. They thrive in giving back to others rather than being motivated by their own desires. This is when they achieve great things. Sixes are natural teachers, ministers and counselors.
Popularity
OF THE BOY NAME EMILIANO
The name Emiliano briefly showed up on the U.S. naming charts in 1885, but at low usage and only for that year. The name would not reappear on the charts again for over 100 years until 1997. However, in the past decade and a half, Emiliano has shown some respectable forward movement on the charts. The name basically went from obscurity to moderately-high usage. Clearly, our friends south of the border are influencing Emiliano’s popularity in the United States since the name is currently one of the most common in Mexico. Emiliano Zapato was a leader of the Mexican Revolution in 1910 and a champion of poor farmers. Emiliano is a long and fancy word with ancient and distinguished roots, so this name is not just for anyone. It’s a hard one to ‘rival’ – we can say that for sure!Quick Facts
