Eminem admits his drug addiction could have gone another way

Rap star Eminem has spoken out about his addiction to prescription drugs, admitting that his situation could have ended very differently.

According to nme.com, the rapper said he was glad that he survived the addiction and was able to move on from it.

"I'm definitely thankful," he said in a Radio 1 interview. "I know that I could have certainly taken another path and gone another direction [but] I think that I'm probably able to be more focused now than I've ever been.

"I know there's so many addicts in this world and people who had problems like that that don't make it. So I'm thankful for that," he added.

At the peak of his addiction, Eminem was taking around 60 Valium and 30 Vicodin pills a day. He suffered an overdose of methadone in 2007, which hospitalised and almost killed him.

He stated that his passion for music kept him going but during his addiction days, he that didn't have much fun with his musical performances, reports bbc.co.uk.

Instead, all he could think about was getting through the performance, so he would take prescription pills to get by - when he said he should have been connecting with his audience and enjoying himself. Thankfully, the star is now able to manage his addiction effectively.
