Encanto Theory: Casita Helped Bruno In A Major Way - CBR

The magical candle at the heart of Disney's Encanto gifts the Madrigal family with supernatural abilities that allow them to support the people of their town. As important as those abilities are to the family, the most valuable gift they receive is their magical home.

Lovingly known as Casita, the Madrigal home in Encanto is a sentient structure that can shift its form to assist its inhabitants with their every need. Aside from helping the Madrigals decorate for parties, Casita can create unique rooms for each family member that allow their unique gifts to flourish. Although every magical Madrigal had a special room, one member of the family may have gotten a little extra help that no one else knew about. A theory about Bruno Madrigal's secret hiding place suggests that Casita helped Bruno hide in plain sight so that he could be close to his family.

Bruno became the black sheep in the family because of his gift of premonitions. People in the community began to dread his presence because he frequently used his ability to share bad news about the future. One day, he had a worrying premonition about the Madrigals and decided to leave his home, which resulted in the family refraining from mentioning him again. Bruno's whereabouts were unknown until Mirabel Madrigal became curious about a premonition that involved her. She went searching for clues about Bruno and discovered that he had been living inside the house all along.

The Encanto theory, which was suggested by Super Carlin Brothers on YouTube, proposes that Casita expanded its inner walls to allow Bruno to keep living inside the family home. A secret passageway behind a painting led to Bruno's new home, which was a small room adjacent to the dining room. The theorist explains that the inner walls of a regular house are usually not very big, which is why Casita must have magically expanded the space specifically for Bruno.

It was strange that Bruno didn't actually leave his family home when he ran away. He explained to Mirabel that the protective mountains around the encanto were very tall, hinting that he did try to leave the town but was unable to. Casita resolved Bruno's problem and kept him close enough to his family that he would be able to rejoin them when the time was right. Unlike his parents, Bruno lived in the comfort of Casita for his entire life and may have struggled to survive outside the encanto. The magical abilities of the house didn't work in his crawlspace, but Bruno still had the benefits of living with the Madrigals. He could eat Julieta's food, had a place to sleep and enjoyed his family's company from a distance.

This theory is highly likely to be true because Casita's purpose is to house and protect the Madrigal family. The house was first created after Abuela and her husband Pedro had fled their home and needed a safe place to stay. Casita grew from the magical candle flame after Pedro died and provided a haven for the remaining Madrigals in their time of need. Bruno needed a safe place himself when his ability turned his family and the townspeople against him. It makes sense that Casita would create a private living area in its own walls to keep Bruno safe and surrounded by family.

Encanto's Casita must have understood the importance of keeping the family together and coaxed Bruno into staying in the house. The Madrigals were able to repair their home and rediscover the value of strengthening family bonds, which wouldn't have been possible if Bruno was far away.
