This Engine Displacement Calculator provides calculations for engine displacement based on either the metric or US standard system.Engine displacement is determined by calculating the engine cylinder bore area multiplied by the stroke of the crankshaft, and then multiplied by the number of cylinders.
Read More...Engine displacement is determined by calculating the engine cylinder bore area multiplied by the stroke of the crankshaft, and then multiplied by the number of cylinders. This will result in the overall volume of air displaced by the engine.
For example, if we have a bore of 4 inches and a stroke length of 3.52 inches on an 8-cylinder engine:
- Displacement = (4 in./2) x (4 in./2) x 3.1416 x 3.52 in. x 8 = 353.86 cubic inches.
