Where did you get that from?

Ask someone "Where did you get that from?" when they use a word or phrase that you didn't think they knew. Here are some examples of situations in which you can use this:

  • Your child uses a new, difficult word.
  • Your older relative uses a slang phrase that people their age don't usually know.
  • An English learner uses a phrase that sounds very native-like which they've never used before.
