A new four-wheel-drive version of the entry-level Audi Q3 2.0 TDI has been launched, with prices starting from £26,510.

Like the two-wheel-drive equivalent, which we reviewed earlier this year, power comes from the VW Group’s 1968cc, four-cylinder turbodiesel powerplant, which delivers 138bhp at 4200rpm and 236lb ft of thrust between 1750 and 3200rpm.

According to Audi’s claims, the Q3 2.0 TDI can cover 0-62mph in 9.9sec on its way to a maximum speed of 122mph when equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. Combined fuel economy is put at 49.6mpg, which equates to 149g/km of CO2 emissions. The SUV is fitted with stop-start and braking recuperation systems.

The Audi Q3 2.0 TDI is available in SE and S-line specifications. The SE, which comes in at £26,510, features 17in alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, an audio system with 6.5in manually retractable colour display screen, preparation for SD card navigation, Bluetooth and Audi Music Interface.

For a premium of £2750 (taking the price to £29,260) S-line specification adds larger 18-inch alloy wheels, special exterior and interior styling enhancements, xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and LED rear tail-lights.

The model variant – which is the 250th Audi to be equipped with the quattro system – is expected to account for up to 40 per cent of total Q3 sales in the UK.

Used Audi Q3 2011-2018 review

The Audi Q3 is a desirable and capable contender that fails to engage its driver, which ultimately, leaves it trailing the BMW X1 and the Range Rover Evoque

Entry-level Audi Q3 2.0 TDI quattro

Much better to invest in a Skoda Yeti and save several thousands of pounds. A Skoda Yeti 2.0 TDI CR Elegance 4x4 with leather, xenons, etc.,with basically the same engine and performance, would be about £7000 cheaper!

Yetiman - good point

Not only cheaper to buy, but don't forget that the Yeti will also be cheaper to insure, cheaper to service and cheaper to fix if (heaven forbid for a Skoda) anything breaks.

Plus, nobody will hate you! Wink

Good news and bad news

I haven't driven in one of these, only sat in it, played with it, talked to staff about it, and read reviews. The unmistakable impression that I get is that the Q3 is one of Audi's best cars.

That's the good news.

Now for the bad news. The Q3 is one of Audi's best cars.

(Yes, I know it isn't original, but I think it's the best way of emphasising the point!)

Aldi's styling department,

Aldi's styling department, sorry Audi's, have surely been made redundent? A totally awful clinical design for the money. LED daytime running lights and giant grilles are really past their best now!
