Eugene has never been given a canon age. Nathan Greno and Byron Howard both have him pegged in the 22-24 age range in the movie, but with no set, hard limit as to what that age is. The only person in the whole movie with a canon age is Rapunzel. Even @cnotes has said that Cass doesn’t have one (though we’ve all been saying 23 because of something an unnamed crewmember said on Twitter), and the author of the junior novelization of What the Hair?! made Varian 14, though that was not canonized by the crew, either.

Until the series says otherwise (if they ever do), Eugene has no canon age.

That being said, their age gap doesn’t bother me, because they’re taking it slow, they’re getting to know each other as people and themselves as a couple, and they’re both consenting adults. They’re friends, first and foremost, and that’s so, so important.

I don’t think Rapunzel has the same sort of social expectations as other people. I don’t think “I’m too young to get married,” has even crossed her mind, because she’s so in love with Eugene. However, as I previously discussed, she is definitely wary of committing to something that she has an actual option to say no to. She wants to spend the rest of her life with him, but she spent the first eighteen years of her life having no say in how her life went. Now she has a say, and she wants to explore her options before she settles down.

Arianna was just like her when she was younger, but she got married and settle down and seems to rarely leave Corona now (since a big deal was made of her and Frederic going away for their anniversary).

Eugene has lived already. Unlike Rapunzel, he spent most of his life living adventures without love and security, and he’s got that now, and loves Rapunzel so much that he doesn’t want to give her up for anything.

And now, they’ve both come to an understanding where the other person is coming from.
