Euphoria: Fez Has A Much Bigger Problem Than Rue - CBR

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Euphoria Season 2, Episode 5, "Stand Still Like the Hummingbird," now available on HBO.

Season 2 of HBO's Euphoria has thrown Fez's (Angus Cloud) life into even more disarray, somehow topping the first season when cops raided his home for drugs. He barely escaped that ordeal, but since then he's beat Nate near to death and had to contend with Nate's dad, Cal, coming around, thinking Fez had his sex tape.

Compounding all this drama was Rue messing with Fez's drug dealing, which left his younger brother Ashtray pissed as hell as he hated folks disrupting business. Unfortunately, things just got a lot messier because Fez has a problem way bigger than Rue to deal with.

Fez has always looked out for Rue as a little sister, eventually cutting her off as he wanted her to get clean. Rue continued down a self-destructive path, despite Fez needing her to repair her life and stay sober. Unfortunately, she showed up at his home in the latest episode, jonesing for a fix and as broken as ever, trying to steal meds from his sick, dying grandma.

Fez threw her out, leaving Ashtray staring in anger as he knew Rue would someday be a liability. What they don't know is Rue went to the brothers' own dealer, Laurie, got $10,000 worth of drugs to sell, only to have her family find and flush it. Unable to pay it back, Laurie may be marking Rue for sex trafficking, leaving Fez with a tall order of getting his friend out of this mess, knowing Laurie has guys willing to kill at the drop of a hat.

However, the bigger problem is connected to the middle-man Fez cut out to link with Laurie in the first place: Mouse. At the start of this season, Mouse and an associate held Fez at gunpoint as Fez robbed one of their clients to pay them money he owed. It resulted in Ashtray smashing Mouse's head open with a hammer, killing him at their home. They ended up beating the other guy senseless, but let him live as Fez couldn't handle all that bloodshed on one night.

That has come back to haunt them as Custer, one of their buyers, visited to let them know someone's "baby mama" is inquiring into a disappearance. The missing person in question is more than likely Mouse, which means if the accomplice rats them out, Fez and Ashtray will face severe punishment. Rue or Custer's junkie girlfriend, Faye, are also potential rats as they're always high and rarely keep secrets.

Either way, Laurie, other gangs and dealers, as well as Mouse's people won't like this betrayal in the fraternity. And from Fez's reaction, he has no clue how to solve the issue and avoid reprisal. It's rare to see him panicking like this, and with even Ashtray out of ideas, it's going to be a wild ride for the brothers to cap the season.
